  1. Adam Johnson’s goal to tie the game in injury time for Man City was mind-blowing.

Recently returned to the EPL with Man City, Young Adam Johnson, hit what may be the Goal of Eternity in injury time to tie the game. If you didn’t see it — he got the ball just inside the 18-yd box, at the top right corner. The defender definitely gave him too much room, but no one could anticipate the quality of his play. He pushed the ball to his left a little, looked up at where everyone was and where he was, then he looked down and struck the ball.

I thought he was chipping it towards the back post, hoping to find the head of one of the Man Cit players around the 6 yd box. The ball kept its loft though sailing over his teammates, and then bending down and in. The ball came down about two feet under the bar, but with much too loft for the defender at the post to reach it with his leaping header attempt. As the Brits say “cool as you like”. Given the pressured circumstances, this may have been one of the most spectacularly placed shots I’ve ever seen, outside of free kicks, which are a bit easier to line up.

  2. No Beasley or Edu, but they were both on the subs bench. Anyone follow Rangers closely no why? Is it normal cup competition squad rotation?

  3. Coming off a knee injury, Dempsey playing >70 minutes versus Man Utd and nearly scoring can’t be interpreted as anything other than fantastic news.

  4. my dream is that united is up by one so they give only 1 minute of stoppage time, then fulham score and the 4th official goes back out and puts up 5 more minutes

  5. This officiating is a little disgusting, in fact almost every United game is.

    Call a foul on United.

That being said, Fulham look lost. Pass the ball FORWARD.

  6. Brooklyn,

Yeah, Agudelo is another hot property, anothe Columbian out of NY area. Plus I forgot Navas in Houston

But there was yet another Columbian named Jose Angulo and NE had him in camp for a while a year or two ago with some bogus “discovery” claim. NY was pissed. Then he hurt his knee or something.

  7. Dempsey looks rusty but if he’s playing now than he should be completely ready for the world cup, now the us must wait for Davies to be healthly.

(SBI-Blog plugging isn’t allowed DLewis, so please don’t do it again.)

  8. Bit of a non-sequitor but I’ve got a question for anyone that can answer:

I’ve heard alot about the latest phenom’s (Luis Gil, McTierney, ect) but whatever happened to that Jose Angulo kid that NE & NY were trying to sign last year?

I heard he’d been injured but don’t know anything more.

What about Brandon Manzonelli, the kid that got a internship at Villareal and then came back to NE?

Is he still in the game?

Goes to show how fast you can fall off the radar.
