The next step in Charlie Davies' recovery from multiple major injuries is set to begin on Monday, when the U.S. national team striker is slated to begin training with FC Sochaux.
French publication L'Equipe reported on Thursday that Davies was set to leave the Cape Breton rehabilitation facility on Friday and will begin training with Sochaux on Monday.
Davies confirmed the news on his Twitter feed, saying, "It's official! I'm done with rehab!!! Leaving for Sochaux tomorrow!"
What do you think of the latest news on Davies? Starting to believe he will make the U.S. World Cup team? Anxious to see him back in action for Sochaux?

Matt,
That would be my guess. Bones tend to heal better than ligaments for sure, especially in young healthy people. That being said, he still had two titanium rods put in through his knee though (one up the femur, the other down his tibia). Plus, he had a PCL injury in the other knee similar to Dempsey’s. That doesn’t mention anything about his terrible triad elbow fracture dislocation (it has a name like that for a reason). That’s just his extremity stuff, not even mentioning the facial fractures and bladder rupture… This kid must be an absolute ANIMAL in rehab…. Simply an inspiration to any injured person. He will be a great example for my future patients, that’s for sure.
Charlie, Amazing recovery! and Jones has been out for almost a year. Hmmmmmmmmm……
Both have to play this year on their respected club team to have any hope of playing for the Red, White and Blue. Saying that, CD will be going to SA come hell or high water…He is better and more valuable on the bench they Bornstein is on the pitch…enough said!
While this is good news, he should proceed cautiously. He had several severe injuries, and the last thing he would want to do is rush back and quickly reinjure himself. Anybody remember Jerry Rice’s “miraculous comeback” to the NFL a few years ago after ACL reconstruction? He was back playing after an unbelievable 3 months. Usually after ACL reconstruction you don’t return to sports for a minimum of 6 months. Well, FIRST PLAY of his first game back he fractured his kneecap, the kneecap being part of the harvest site for his ACL graft. He simply came back too quickly, and it ended his career.
oye…bunch of typos
“the key to his recover is that he did NOT have much ligament damage?
DanO,I’m not downplaying the injury at all, it is the key to this recovery that he really did do much ligament dmg. Mostly “just” broken bones?
I’d like to think that immediately after the accident John Locke brought CD to an unnamed island in the South Pacific.
Means nothing other than his rehab went well. I want him back too. But training with the team and later playing matches will be the only real way to see where he is. Leg breaks often impair speed ever after, no? Is there a PhD in the house? A surgeon? (what is the education level and age of most SBIs readers I wonder) All the same, go Davies!
Amen to that! Maybe we can do it!
He truly is a Six Million Dollar Man! I am starting to beleive he can come back.
Great NEWS!
He is able … I think you who I’m talking about 🙂
I like the name…”Miracle Charlie”
This is awesome news! After watching the last couple of US games I was starting to get a little worried. If Holden, Gooch, etc. get back up to snuff, everything will be all good.
Be The Miracle Charlie!
England.. We have the technology.

too bad Farah didn’t live to see the day.
5 months ago the dude was having his face peeled off to fix his skull. CD9000 keep pushing at the right pace, rising steady with no setbacks. And give thanks every day you can pee using your God-given equipment!
Great Job Davies. But PLEASE don’t push it too hard once your back with the team. This is the time most people have setbacks with the little nagging injuries because they push too hard and don’t do it right.
You’re on the roster…don’t think you have to prove anything.
At this point all I can say is I believe in C.D. He’s got the heart of a giant. Such great news to be paired with the Dempsey goal. Even in troubled times there is hope.
Props on the hard work Charlie!
I predict:
1) Just like in 1950, a Haitian-American will score and we will beat England 1-0.
2) CD9 will come off the bench to score the winning goal against Germany to take us into the round of 8. I will cry like a baby.

LOVE IT… also love that its right below Clint’s sensational goal. Two guys that were both rehabbing last month and could hopefully both be great contributors this summer.
Definitely love CD and his story and his dedication, but there is no need to throw O’Brien under the bus. All injuries are different. And it doesn’t necessarily mean you have no heart if you have to call it a career due to injuries.
Dang – that is insane. And awesome.
Even if he’s not 100% by the WC, I still think he’ll be able to have an impact. He’s got endless drive and determination and that can go a long way.
What a story this is. I would never have imagined he could recover so quickly from such awful injuries. So happy I was wrong 🙂
Awesome.
I am absolutley amazed that he is ready to train in such short time after those severe injuries! I admit, I doubted that he would return to the field in a year when I first heard of his injuries. It still remains to be seen if he will get back his lightning speed. I would not bet against him. Amazing!
No way he’s going directly to first team training. Probably will start with the CFA team and play four or five matches with them before going into the first team in April.
Hearing this plus Dempsey’s goal, very good day for USA
Although I like CD 2.0…. CD 9000 gets the nod over 2.0 because of the jersey number reference. It ties it all together in one nice tribute.
+1 to Aaron for “turd nuggets” – thats awesome
yeah, the really fast forward who scores goals, I know who you’re talking about. He will definately be on the squad. Wait, hold up… Robbie WHO? No man,you mean CD9. The other guy was just keeping his seat warm on the plane.
I understand the skepticism, but I don’t think he would have left the rehab facility and departed for Sochaux to resume full training if his speed wasn’t up to snuff. He may be behind a few ticks (which I know can make a huge difference), but I’m willing to bet that he’s still got the juice. Probably needs a lot more ball work and then some match fitness.
Give them hell CD!
That is word. I would be crying, screaming, and jumping all at once. With what he’s accomplished, no one can deny the miracle that has been his recovery. Tremendous respect for Davies as well as his medical and PT teams and family. He’s truly a cut above the rest.
CD9 IS THE MAN
No one feels CD 2.0?
First of all – GO ON, CD9! Best of luck to you, lad. We need you in SA.
Second – how long before L’Equipe starts a Lance-Armstrong-grade witchhunt, accusing CD9 of using performance-enhancing drugs to aid in his recovery and comeback?
Just sayin’.
