The New York Red Bulls have signed forward Juan Agudelo to a homegrown Generation adidas contract. Agudelo's New York-based agent, Ron Waxman, confirmed the deal to SBI on Thursday night.
A member of the U.S. Under-17 national team and product of the Red Bulls Youh Academy, Agudelo impressed during pre-season with the Red Bulls after a successful trial stint with Colombian club Millonarios. Details of the contract were not made available.
Agudelo joins a crowded stable of forwards for the Red Bulls that includes Juan Pablo Angel, Macoumba Kandji, John Wolyniec, Conor Chinn and recently-signed Ghanaian forward Ibrahim Salou. He has impressed with his skill on the ball and improved strength, and should get minutes despite being just 17.
As a Homegrown Player, Agudelo will not count toward the Red Bulls' 24-man roster.
Did you watch Kandji play any games at left wing last year?
Looks like Frankenstein is on his way out. Macoumba to the Left Wing.
Haha. Love the attitude!
Looking forward to tomorrow and glad RB fans have reason to talk some trash.
Should be a fun year.
We most likely will after being up 3 goals in the first half
I realize that it’s too early to predict success for the player or the club but it does seem that, for foreign guys, Soler & Backe have a better handle on how to build an MLS side & what avenues to pursue than the Legendary Professor of Futbol, Juan Carlos Osorio & the equally legendary Goose. At least they are using the tools at their disposal, & not trying to bring in players who have been claimed by other teams (Hi there, Lider Marmol.)
money
Agreed.
Well, I’m a New Yorker and I’d be perfectly okay if our Harrison Red Bulls let Wolyniec go.
