Report: Toronto to host 2010 MLS Cup

Major League Soccer can start preparing for another MLS Cup final away from warm weather environs.

The Toronto Globe & Mail is reporting that the 2010 MLS Cup will be held in Toronto on Nov. 21.

Toronto was one of four markets to be in the running for MLS Cup, along with New York, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. Sources told SBI recently that New York asked out of the running to host the event, leaving Toronto as the front-runner.

Toronto's BMO Field played host to the 2008 MLS All-Star Game, a very successful event that featured a sell-out crowd.

What do you think of this news? Planning to make  the trip to Toronto? Disappointed it's not at Red Bull Arena? Were you hoping for someplace warm?

  1. is toronto gonna screw the traveling fans on tickets like seattle did at the MLS Cup too?

(seattle only saved 100 tickets for ALL LA fans, when we got there they wouldn’t let us sit together)

  2. Climatologically speaking, Toronto is 7 degrees F colder than Seattle during the month of November. So not much difference. This can be put to rest. I am a meterologist, and used credible climatology databases.

  4. I’m sure a group of fans will make the trip to Toronto for the RBNY game this year. planned to go last year but the date switch put a damper in those plans

  5. I’m sure all those TFC fans will love watching the Crew win the MLS cup in their stadium. We all know TFC won’t be there since they can never even make the playoffs.

  6. The average temp for Nov09 was 9C or 50F….we’ve had 1…ONE snowstorm this year that we actually had to shovel out of, with a broom actually, so shovelling is the worng word.

Bring a hoodie and your scarf and you’ll be fine….don’t forget your shorts.

  7. The reason for the boos of the U.S. of A. anthem at the All-Star game was due to the fact it appears that the Canadian one was not going to be sung. there was no Canadian flag present on the field and no mention that it was to follow.

The situation was not dealt with appropriately and it was an unfortunate incident.

  8. I wonder if RBNY is hoping to host next year with the chance of an improved team and a second DP bringing home the first title on home turf…or maybe not, just weird they don’t want to host it this year.
