SBI Fantasy MLS Season ready to kick off

MLS_Logo

The 2010 MLS season is two days away, as is the start of the newest Fantasy MLS season.

With Major League Soccer doing away with its official fantasy game, SBI's Fantasy MLS League will be heading to a new home this season. Our league will be at http://mfls.com. To secure the password to join the SBI Fantasy MLS League, please send an email to SBIFantasySoccer@gmail.com and we will send you the league password.

While you wait for the password you can begin to build your team on the SBI league's site. We will look to answer all password requests by Thursday afternoon, ahead of the MLS season opener in Seattle between the Sounders and Philadelphia Union.

I know we promised prizes last year, but this year SBI will be securing some sponsors for prizes and we will be announcing those prizes before the end of the month.

Will you be playing fantasy MLS this season? Who do you see having big fantasy MLS seasons?

  2. Look out for team name: JoshD… Then when I forget about it, I’ll happily join the rest at the bottom!

Now if we’re talking real prizes this year and actually good ones, my attention span may go further!

  4. Potomac Ave Metro United wins this division. You heard it here first.

Anyone up for a $5 pool? Paypal? Ives can keep 25% for awesomeness and starting the league.

  5. Not doing it. I always forget about my fantasy team throughout the season. If I forget about it, then “forgeeet ’bout it”.

  6. I’d imagine it’s a tedious job to have and with low number participating, maybe they decided it was a waste? I’ve always enjoyed it personally… Albeit I’m not one of those number crunching kinds..

  7. Ives,

I appreciate the shout out for http://www.mfls.com. I have been playing for 4 years now and this is by far the most fun I have had playing fantasy soccer. From the beginning, I was with a great division, the AAPL – now the Glory Continental. Everybody in this division is really cool and it has been a lot of fun. I have played the Mlsnet.com fantasy soccer for several years and it doesn’t compare to this. My team name is: Carnival Fc. Hope to see you there…

  9. MFLS is a great fantasy game. The rules are very easy to understand, very easy however the competition is very fierce.

Been playing it for years. Even before Ives blessed me with being featured in his articles. Have a nice day.

  10. Very nice, I ended up in like 35th, got the game ball. I peaked too early. Probably won’t have the time this year to do it right. Bummed that MLS dropped it, I’m guessing it has to do with the new website launch for the league.

  12. First fantasy league ever. I have no clue and took Lenhart, Wolff and Buddle up front. Schletto, Gavin, Richards and Beckerman in the middle with Conrad, Gonzalez and Califf in the back Onstad in goal.

    Do i have a prayer?

I took no USMNT players thinking they will be gone for 2 months (hopefully).

  13. I will play, though I have never done MLS fantasy before. I cannot guarantee my starting lineup will ever change (read: I may never log in again) but I think I will dominate! Maybe.

  14. Not only MLS net, but ESPN as well…no one had a fantasy MLS league ready to go. The MFLS site is not the most aesthetically pleasing site, but the evaluations of the players seems to be pretty good and at least they have it updated.

Anyone going to take Blaise Nkufo?

  16. Ives,,,,What’s happening to ESPN Soccernet’s USA version? You’ve left and Steve Davis and Jen Chang are evidently writing for SI. You’d think ESPN would be beefing up coverage this year being that they’re airing the World Cup in the USA but it seems not.

  17. from the rules: Player salaries will not change during the season. The player salaries are MFLS’s own evaluation of the salary of each MLS player.

  18. I really enjoyed the MLS fantasy system. In 2008 I finished about 290th overall, which was my best showing in fantasy league ever. Blows that it’s gone. For sure I’ll sign up for the SBI league when I get home from, practice tonight.

  19. Well once you get through the initial setup and get your team it becomes easier. It’s like the initial team selection screen is some ancient interface they forgot to replace… once you get inside it’s easier to pick players.

Scoring system… when your players do something notable in real life your fantasy squad gets points: goal = 4pts, assists = 3pts, yellow card = -1pts, and so on. You are ranked with other fantasy squads by the points you’ve accumulated over the season. Easy. 🙂

  20. Hey Ives I want in but never had played fantasy soccer before

That being said I have no clue on how to draft (how many at each position, flex spots etc.) or how the scoring would happen which in turn would effect may initial drafting.

Can someone please shed some light on me?!

    Much appreciated.

    Go you Gunners!!!!!!!!!!

  21. I think you just boosted Mark’s (mfls) total team count Ives. Weird that none of the other leagues are going to exist this year.

  22. I am doing it! looking forward to getting the password from you. I think Juan Pablo Angel will have a big season, the Red Bulls looked good in pre-season and I think Hans Backe is what they needed.
