  1. I don’t know what most people are going on about, but Jozy looked good today. Hull isn’t really a good fit for his skills. I’ve said all along he needs the ball played to his feet to be effective.

His partnership with JVH has worked because the dutchman knocks balls down to Jozy instead of having Jozy in that role. I’ve played soccer for what seems like forever and goals CANNOT come at a steady pace unless the team is involved in all aspects of the buildup.

Donovan looked like a sub, but he probably didn’t start because the last time out against Birmingham all of Everton looked pretty bad. Moyes probably wanted to change things up.

  2. some of these comments (Adrian especially) on here are tough to read. you people need to wake up. until jozy starts finishing chances he’s not magically going to just “land” on a team that can always play him the ball in good spots. you know why? because teams like that typically dont have an interest in strikers that score a goal every 6 or 7 months, regardless of how little service they get. once he starts lighting it up, then you can bitch about hull and garcia and phil brown to your hearts content. until then, though, you dont have a ton of ground to stand on.

i think jozy is great, i certainly think he’s the best forward in the pool, but stop making excuses for him.

  3. Jozy has put in some good performances. Held up well on a bad team. Won a couple of penalties and several free kicks. But he has one league goal and that is not what they expected. Hull are in peril for the drop.

Also Bradley and gbach are out of sync at present. I watched the game last week against dortmund. gbach was awful. Bradley and the team were playing much better earlier in the year. Bradley only has 2 goals this season and seems to be playing a very deep defensive midfield. Bradley even described himself as a dirty pig in an interview. Something is way off.

The yank abroad playing the best right now is actually bocanegra with 2 goals in the past 2 games and playing good defense. Other than that, no one is in great form. Holden was before he was hurt and hopefully Gooch, Dempsey and Davies can get out there and find a good run of form!

  4. Actually I said “these alone” meaning his poor strike rate and how many shots he has taken to get so few goals. Then I tried to be more specific about the goals per shot. Then I said that he is thus either pressing or getting decent enough scoring chances (to take more shots than anyone except Geovanni).

In my response I even went ahead and asked the question I was getting at “why does he have so many shots AND so few goals? Either he is shooting when he shouldn’t or getting better service than people like to claim.”

BTW – RBIs are not meaningless, they are just skewed to teams that are better(have more people on base). Goals per game are the same. This is why I compared Altidore to teammates, not other teams.

  5. Hull goalie fists a very catchable strike right back down the center to Bentdner.

Jozy played all over the field today, great effort, but poor turns with the ball.
