The second week of the MLS season kicks off tonight with a pair of Western Conference showdowns among four 2009 playoff participants.
Defending champions Real Salt Lake face their first tough test of the new season by traveling to Robertson Stadium to take on the Houston Dynamo (9pm, ESPN2). The Los Angeles Clasico, otherwise known as the 'SuperClasico', plays its latest edition as the Los Angeles Galaxy face Chivas USA at Home Depot Center (11pm, ESPN2).
If you are wondering what my picks are for tonight's matches, I have the Dynamo knocking off RSL, 2-1, while the Galaxy dispose of Chivas USA to the tune of 3-1. Look for an SBI preview of the weekend's MLS action on Friday.

I think Findley has had enough “agains”, he just doesn’t have the skill at the international level at this point (he’s still young).
All in all, RSL dominated up to the first goal. They took their foot off the gas after that and cruised. That allowed what happened to olave to occur. The first PK is questionable at best – not a PK as both players were running full speed. The second PK is callable but only because olave’s trailing or left foot touched Landinflopper and of course he flopped. I would have thought it would be a yellow for flopping, but no, it was a pk.
Both PKs were callable, but neither SHOULD have been called. RSL at fault for taking their foot off the gas and coasting.

That ref should be canned. And Landin is a FISH! Can’t wait until they get to Utah, either way RSL is a better team, and they don’t have to be giving pk’s to win all of there games. see ya in salt lake Dynamolds!!!
Olave’s too aggressive at times but getting feet tangled in the box goes uncalled in a lot of leagues even mls. Houston took advantage of him but I think Olave is becoming a solid defender and a threat to score on set pieces. Too bad about Ching but I can’t say he’ll be missed too much in SA this summer. Opens the door even moor for Hercules and maybe even R Findley, again.
For all you saying that Olave’s back foot took out Landin, watch again. He is clearly pulling that leg back the whole time. Landin lost control, felt a tap on is foot and dove. There is no way that Olave’s back leg keeps you from planting your right foot and making another move on the ball.
