The red hot New York Red Bulls bring their hot streak to Los Angeles to take on the slumping Chivas USA.

The Red Bulls (2-0) are coming off an impressive  1-0 road victory against Seattle last week, while Chivas USA (0-2) is still searching for their first victory of the Martin Vasquez era after falling to the LA Galaxy 2-0 in the SuperClasico.

This is Adam Serrano providing you commentary from the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. As always, you are welcome to share your own thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

FULL TIME – The whistle is blown! Chivas USA 2 New York Red Bulls 0. Difficult match to swallow for the Red Bulls who have not looked like the side that played so well in its first two matches. The club was unable to generate anything to Angel, who will be disappointed by his play today.

For Chivas USA, the club earns its first win under new coach Martin Vasquez. Jesus Padilla displayed the type of performance that Chivas USA has hoped for throughout his time with the club.

————————

90th Minute – Great effort by the Rojiblancos there. Zach Thornton fires a free kick that finds Padilla who beats Jeremy Hall and fires his shot past Coundoul.

90th Minute – CHIVAS USA GOAL!! The dagger falls as Jesus Padilla scores!!

————————

90th Minute – Last Gasps from Red Bulls. The club earns a free kick, but a Salou header in the box goes just left of Thorntons net.

———————–

85th Minute – Poor intel on that Dane Richards sub, Roy Miller pulled into the match while the Jamaican will remain in the game.

————————

83rd Minute – Red Bulls making their last sub. Conor Chinn will be coming on for Roy Miller.

————————

78th Minute – GREAT SAVE BY THORNTON!! THE Keeper comes up big off a Angel shot and Umana clears the ball out of danger.

————————

76th Minute – Both clubs making subs right now. rookie Tony Tchani comes on for Sinisa Ubiparipovic for the Red Bulls. Chivas USA pulls an injured Maykel Galindo for Michael Lahoud. It appears that Vasquez will look to hold this result as he is now going with a single striker.

————————

73rd Minute – KANDJI MISSES A GREAT CHANCE! Red Bull sub Salou Ibrahim finds Kandji in a world of space in front of the Chivas USA net, but the forward pushes the ball wide left. He'll want that shot back for sure.

————————

72nd Minute – Chivas' cleared by the Red Bulls. New York are probing the Chivas defense for looks, but are finding only Chivas USA defenders in their way.

————————

70th Minute – GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY for CHIVAS, Kljestan gets the ball in plenty of space, but Ream pushes it wide. Chivas Corner.

————————

68th Minute – Red Bulls desperately looking for the equalizer, but turnovers and poor passing in the final third is keeping New York from threatening Thornton.

————————

66th Minute – Red Bulls pressing forward, searching for that goal. The club earns a corner, which is sent to Angel, who heads it just above the net of Thornton.

————————

65th Minute – CLOSE SHOT! Cijindu continues to look dangerous today as he fires a shot from incredible distance that just misses the top of the Red Bull net.

————————

64th Minute – ANGEL SHOT HEADED JUST WIDE! – Richards finds the Red Bulls captain, who heads it wide.

————————

63rd Minute – The Red Bulls are beginning to find some space in the midfield, but the last pass is lacking for New York. There has been little to no service to Juan Pablo Angel all match.

————————

60th Minute – Maicon Santos struggled throughout the match to move forward as he was wrapped up by rookie Tim Ream. Vasquez is continuing to push forward despite having the lead. It appears that Chijindu has picked up a knock and is on the sideline receiving treatment. Chivas with 10 men.

————————

57th Minute – The Red Bulls earn the corner, but the chance is a poor one as it falls into the hands of Thornton again. Hans Backe can't be satisfied with his team's dead ball play today. Chivas USA is making a sub as Maykel Galindo will come on for Maicon Santos.

————————

52nd Minute – Horrible luck for the Red Bulls. Coundoul appeared completely fooled by the Padilla shot which was wide of the target. It may not be pretty but Chivas USA will take it. It's now up to New York to challenge and it appears that Salou Ibrahim is about to enter the match.

————————

47th Minute – The confetti cannons go off for the first time for the Rojiblancos. Padilla gets a great cross from Chijindu. The Padilla shot deflects off a Red Bull defender and bounces off the post. ————————

45th Minute – We're under way once again at Home Depot Center

————————

HALFTIME – For New York, the team is a shadow of the club that went into Seattle and earned a tough result. Lindpere and Stammler have not done enough to provide the possession that the Red Bulls had in the first moments of the game.

Look for the Rojiblancos to continue to try and test the New York defense with Galindo likely to come for the ineffective Maicon Santos. The Red Bulls will be looking for more out of Dane Richards and Sinisa Ubiparipovic, who have appeared absent in this match so far.

————————

HALFTIME – Red Bulls 0, Chivas USA 0. Not a very exciting match so far as the teams appear stuck in midfield. Martin Vasquez's club has had the most of the chances so far, but poor finishing is keeping the Rojiblancos off the board.

————————

43rd Minute – Padilla fouls Richards setting up the Red Bull free kick

————————

42nd Minute – Little to no offense from the teams as we approach the end of the first half. The game appears to be stuck in the center of the field.

————————

39th Minute – Jazic limps off the field and Jesus Padilla comes in to replace the defender. Bornstein slides back into defense as Padilla takes his place on the left side.

————————

38th Minute – Ante Jazic picked up a knock on that earlier clearance and goes down. The Chivas USA medical staff is attending to the defender while the squads take a short breather to discuss the match.

————————

36th Minute – Red Bulls corner, off an Ante Jazic clearance.

———————–

33rd Minute – The holes are there for Red Bull to exploit but New York is having trouble creating opportunities in the box.

————————

32nd Minute – Red Bull generating some offense as Kandji fires his header over the cross bar. The forward got beautiful service from Lindpere on that play.

————————

30th Minute – Bornstein plays a very beautiful ball into Chijindu, but the linesman rules that the forward is offside.

————————

27th Minute – The corner amounts to nothing as a Red Bull foul in the box results in a Thornton free kick.

————————

26th Minute – The Red Bulls are beginning to take up residence in the Chivas USA end. Dane Richards earns a corner.

————————

19th Minute – YELLOW CARD FOR NEW YORK – Mike Petke is booked for a harsh challenge on Chijindu.

————————

17th Minute – GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE RED BULLS! off a corner, the ball falls to Kandji who can't get his foot in front of the ball. Chivas clears it for a Red Bull throw in.

————————

16th Minute – Good non call as Petke takes down Kljestan in the box, but it appears that there might have been a bit too much embellishing on that play.

————————

13th Minute – The match is getting chippy as Lindpere goes down after bumping knees with a Chivas USA player. The midfielder was down for a time, but is back up on his feet.

————————

9th Minute – Chivas getting something going as Jonathan Bornstein keeps the ball in bounds, crossing it to Chijindu. However, the forward blasts it over the bar.

————————

5th Minute – Red Bulls dominating possession so far in the match as Chivas USA has yet to generate anything positive going forward so far.

————————

3rd Minute – Red Bulls earn the corner, but it's headed out by Sacha Kljestan who clears the ball out of trouble.

————————

2nd Minute: Not the largest crowd here today at Home Depot Center, but the Rojiblancos typically have difficulty during afternoon gates. It will be up to the Union Ultras (Chivas USA Supporters group) to keep up the atmosphere today.

———————–

1st Minute: And we're off.

————————

PRE-GAME –

Chivas is showing New York a far more physical line up than the one that lost its first two games. As always for the Rojiblancos, the key will be the play of Sacha Kljestan as the midfielder will need to make dangerous runs to get behind the defense. Should the physical approach fail Martin Vasquez, expect Romero and Padilla to come on to provide that boost of speed of the bench.

It will be interesting to see how the new center back Dario Delgado adjusts in his first match in MLS. He'll be getting a baptism by fire today facing Juan Pablo Angel in his debut.

————————

PRE-GAME – Wholesale changes for Chivas USA today as the club looks to rebound after a horrid start. Last year's Goalkeeper of the Year Zach Thornton will be returning to the line up and new addition Dario Delgado will make his debut alongside fellow Costa Rican Michael Umana. The biggest change for the Rojiblancos is Jonathan Bornstein being pushed into the midfield while Osael Romero is relegated to the bench.

It's business as usual for the Red Bulls as Hans Backe turns to the same line up that came out of Seattle with a victory. Seth Stammler will once again be playing on the behind the midfield tandem of Richards, Lindpere and Ubiparipovic.

  1. Had to work so couldn’t watch the game arghh…but if Angel played as poorly as some have said, I would really feel bad if it’s all because of that POS DuGuzman’s tackle. He was playing great in preseason before that

    Just one game… GO NY

  2. Looks like Metro Bulls arent the second coming of Man U after all…

Condoul has looked shakey every game arent going anywhere with him.

I thought Angel was still on MLS did he retire? There was and an Old slow innefective guy on the pitch that looked just like him. He lookes like Wanchope with the Fire out there so far this year

  3. that was a huge blunder from Bouna but hey it could be worse… we could have Perkins on goal, as I’m typing this he has had 8 goals scored against in 3 games.

  4. Ives are you serious?? Angel was standing in one spot all game.. The dude is crap and old n needs to be let go.. He is a waste.., offsides 40% of match, doesn’t make runs, waits for lucky stuff to happen… How u expect him to get service if he never open?? Chivas got lucky… The first was lucky as mierda and the 2nd was just garbage n wouldbe never happened if it was 0-0.. Salou is terrible as well

  5. the crowd there looks halfway decent, not like the early afternoon crowds on other games being televised on Univion/Telefutura (dallas & colorado). I understand the scheduling, so as not to interfere w/Mexican league broadcasting on telefutura, but for christ’s sake cant most of these games be of eastern time zone teams where you’ll at least get something decent in terms of attendance as that time is so close to saturday evening games anyway. An empty stadium continues to look bad.

  7. Bornstein was really great in the midfield for CUSA and now they have an injury and I’m guessing he is moving back.
