Torres on wrong end of worst tackle ever

JoseFranciscoTorres(ISIphotos.com)

Jose Francisco Torres is enjoying a successful season in Mexico with Pachuca, and is a safe bet to make the U.S. World Cup team, but he probably saw his life flash before his eyes after being hit with one of the most cruel tackles you'll ever see.

Here is the tackle, which took place last week during Pachuca's 2-1 CONCACAF Champions League loss to Cruz Azul (let me preface this by saying Torres is fine and finished out that game):

What did you think of that tackle? Did it make your eyes water just seeing that? Even more impressed with Torres for walking away from that? Wondering if Torres has been training under FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman?

  1. Did not one person click on thelink of Shelles Hyndman get kicked? Didn’t anyone watch that video? Holly crap. I’m an acupuncturist and a firm beleiver in Qi/Ki but those guys in that video tak it to another level. I have a new respect for old Shelles.

Ives, maybe that deserves it’s own post. That’s some Chuck Norris type crazieness!

  2. Making Contact with the Ball first DOES NOT make a tackle ok. People need to get that ingrained in their head. Any reckless challenge is a cardable offense even if you get the ball first. two footed tackles and tackles from behind are cardable regardless of whether you get the ball first. It’s a foul because of the nature of the challenge not the outcome.

(SBI-Did it occur to anybody on here that the “He got all ball” remark was a joke?)

  3. 100% agreed. i loathe that. unfortunately not enough people have balls enough to stamp it out of the game. i still say it’s wimpy.

  4. Torres studs only went up after he kicked the ball. The other dude came in half a second late and tried to jumped at the ball but instead got balls. He had the opportunity to bring back his feet or attempt to get away whereas torres really was defensless.
