The UEFA Champions League semifinals kick off today, with Inter Milan playing host to defending champion FC Barcelona in Milan (2:45pm, FSN/FSE/DirecTV).

Barcelona has had to take a long journey to Italy thanks to the European flight bans caused by the Icelandic volcano eruption, but that shouldn't stop today's match from being as tightly-contested as the last time these teams met in Milan, a 0-0 draw last fall in the Champions League group stage.

If you will be watching today's match, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.

Enjoy the action.

  1. Third goal was a sham.
Dude was a million miles offside.
I guess it all evens out eh? Barca got some favorable calls last year in the Semis.
    Inter played magnificent regardless.

  3. This ref is terrible. 3 clear penalties for Barca, dozens of fouls called the wrong way… what is going on here? I’m not even a barca fan, but come on, inter are getting man-handled and don’t deserve this win.

  4. well, this score is going to make watching the second leg fun. Barca have no chance but to put on a full-out attack.

  5. Wow, Barcelona has been on the bad end of two bad decisions by the officials. Milito looked to be offside on his goal, they also should have received a penalty but instead a card was given for a dive.

  6. One of these days, someone is going to be very injured and the ref is going to force them to move off the field and permanently injure them.

Who will to blame then ? All the players that use it for the cheating technique of taking time off the clock. Between this and the two rediculous dives, makes you wonder why FIFA pull its head out and cut down on cheating ?

  7. This is a prime example of why the game is played on the field….the pundits and just about everyone else had conceeded this to Barcalona before a ball had been kicked….

  8. So he’s been playing regularly since his knock? I sure hope so. He’s so effing tenacious and never quits on any play

  9. Rather off topic: but I haven’t been following the CCC in England much this season and I noticed Watford is playing today, but Demerit is neither on the field or the bench. After last summer’s confed cup I became a believer and a huge fan of his and what he has to bring to our national team. I think he could make an impact as a starter or at the very least backup off the bench. What’s Jay’s story nowadays? Injured? Out of favor? I hope a healthy Demerit can make it to SA.

  10. Yeah, Maicon fell asleep on Maxwell on that goal. But I’ve been very disappointed with Alves’ touch all game. He needs to settle in.
This game should end up 2-2 with how these defenses have been playing.

  11. Maicon has been beaten a couple of times by Maxwell and might not come forward as much as usual. Alves can give this game away if he doesn’t calm down. Good idea for Brazil WC opponents, attack their attacking FBs.

  12. the best defense against barcelona is ibrahimovic. he stifles there attack more than any centerback i have ever seen.

  13. yeah, he’s not having his best game. he needs to if he wants to wrestle playing time away from Maicon, who will likely put his own stamp in this match.

  15. Two key things to watch:

    1) Messi v. 3/5 of Brazil’s defense. Maybe the best indication we will get about how Messi and Argentina will fair against the better teams in the World Cup.

    2) Eto’o v. Barca’s possession game. If anyone in the world has the counterattack ability to break Barca’s game, its Eto’o.

  16. Made it much, much too easy for Maxwell to run in and pick out a pass. Pedro just had to do what he does, and even easier without pressure.

  17. Inter has zero Italians in the starting XI. Four Brazilians, four Argies, Holland, Macedonia, Cameroon. Just sayin’.
