U.S. national team forward Eddie Johnson is currently the top goal-scorer in the Greek play-offs with three goals, but hot on his trail is Algerian forward Rafik Djebbour.

Djebbour scored the opener in AEK Athens' play-off against Johnson's Aris Salonika, marking the second consecutive match in which he found the back of the net. Djebbour's finish – a crafty, off-balanced volley – was his second goal of the post-season and it helped AEK Athens to a 4-2 win, which places the club in third place of the four-team Greek play-offs.

It wasn't all good news this weekend. Slovenian forward Zlatko Dedic and Algerian defender Antar Yahia saw their club, VfL Bochum, relegated with a 3-0 loss to Hannover 96. Yahia went the distance in the season finale while Dedic made a 29-minute cameo off the bench.

  2. what about all those 7 other Euro-based, uncapped players that “The Sheikh” (Algeria’s coach, Saadane) just called up for the World Cup? There was one on Davies’ team, Sochaux, in France and another is on loan at Wolves in the EPL. Given that we haven’t tracked them here, it would be a nice feature to see a summary of their club careers and some info on their current form. I think 3 of them were former France youth internationals who will now petition to switch to Algeria.

  3. Rafik Djebbour scored a sweet goal in this clip! too bad he wont get the ball cuz our midfield will dominate them! looks like most of their midfield isnt getting playing time in any league

  4. EJ and top scorer is something we haven’t heard since 2004. He needs to take a paycut and remain with Aris for years to come. Eventually he’ll learn some Greek
