  1. UMMM QUESTION:
I watched the highlights three times. The final score is 4-0. Donovan did not assist that first goal, stevens did. If he scored one, then how the hell did he get three assists?!?!?!?!?
    Somebody answer this one please.

  2. How is it overinflated? They’re totally killing it from a Front Office perspective. Properly inflated, more like it?

  3. I think it all comes down to what a person happy with and what their world view is.As for me, if it is not the tops in the world there is always room for improvement. Of course, even if it is the best in the world, there is room for improvement.

There is no such thing in this life as pefection, but one hopes we are all striving to perfect our own selfs. IF we all did that the world is only going to be a better place.

I hope NYC gets the 20th team, it is definitely needed.

  4. Regardless of whether you believe it or not, that’s what happened. Saturday night Zak was quoted on the Times sight as saying the team should apologize to the fans and that they deserved their money back. On Sunday Hanauer said he read Zak’s comments and couldn’t sleep all night so he called the rest of the ownership group in the morning to get it done.

  5. hey charlie would also be nice to watch them on tv (FSC or ESPN). instead we get to watch the KC Wizards on national tv week after week.

it’s still early for the Sounders. thought they overachieved big time last year. maybe they are saving it up for champions league play.

  6. Brutal game on Saturday for a Sounder’s fan, but as a national team fan and a fan of soccer in the US……Wow.

The dream scenerio is shaping up. Buddle and Donovan pairing up to dominate the World Cup, then playing IN THE US ! FOR OUR LEAGUE ! WHERE WE CAN WATCH THEM IN PERSON !

  7. IF Seattle votes out Hanauer ( and they can, btw ), I give up my season tickets.

He is very bright and will work his butt off to make this team better.

  8. lol. this Saturday on FSC: Fire @ Wizards. what kind of ‘behind closed doors’ favors are the KC Wizards doing to get on television repeatedly???

  9. i am really warming up to a Buddle/Donovan pairing at the world cup.

however, Bradley won’t make the move unless we see an Altidore injury or boneheaded move on or off the field.

  10. hey, if fsc and espn2 weren’t showing terrible MLS soccer teams maybe some soccer fans would be able to see this run the Galaxy are going on.

prolly just trying to force us to watch

were the Wizards and DC United really the best option ESPN2 had last week. that’s embarassing for the league

  12. wonderful, we hear this garbage in hockey all the time where skill players are bashed constantly and were force fed mediocre talent that plays with passion which is code for mediocrity just like ‘she has a nice personality’ for an ugly girl.

This ISNT an either/or option. Find players with both.

Going for energy players is the easy answer.
Finding talented ones is much, much harder.

  13. Sorry I don’t believe this, even if he did say it. It may be the spin, but I’m not buying in, that Hanauer did this because of Zak.

  15. Agree, the action certainly smells like a CYA move, by a management that did absolutely nothing to improve the team last year. Putting all the blame on the players and accepting none shows Hanauer to be immature and vindictive.

If they do have the Barcelona set-up where the board can be replaced by fan vote, than Hanauer should follow Montero out the door.

  16. possibly, why is it dumb?

As a season ticket holder I would not expect it if it does happen again. Once is more than most teams will ever do.

I am pretty sure this won’t hurt their bottom line too much, bsed on the line in the team stor before the game.

  17. It starts with Montero, because he looks uninterested and doesn’t seem to be moving much up front. Evans is giving effort, but he is not a forward.

The was a terrible performance should be interesting in NY with two teams coming off 4-0 thrashings

  18. You actually messed up a little on your point about Donovan in 2000 Donovan was with the Mens National Team.

Many players including Messi have played for youth teams after PLAYING for their senior team

Another flaw in ur example is Ronaldo going to the 94 world cup. YES he was part of the 23 but he did not play one minute. Englands Theo Walcott went to Germany 2006 and he was 16 going on 17 so does that make him better than Donovan too. In 2002 Donovan was 20 TWENTY VENTE years old (the same age as PATO right now) and started every match for a team that went to the quarterfinals and he abused mad dudes, all you need to do is watch highlights of USA-Germany game, there is a reason Bayer Leverkusan had Donovan on their books.

Donovan can def be a big fish in a big pond, him and arshavin are the same age and Donovan has been doing his thing for a long time while Arshavin just came into the light 2 years ago and is starting and doing well for Arsenal, a mega club. There is No Doubt in most peoples minds that Donovan can go to any mega club and make a difference. Sure Donovan flamed out on his first few attempts in Europe but so would you is you were from SoCal and you moved to Germany, it is not the easiest of transitions. Where was Arshavin up till last January? In Russia playing in his domestic league. Arshavin only got noticed because Gus Hiddink is a miracle worker.

Going back to your Pato point so because he cant make it onto BRASILs NT Donovan is some how a lesser player I really dont follow your logic there. If both Donovan and Pato played for the same NT your arguement would hold a little more water, That comment is more a critizism of the USMNT I guess which has nothing to do with your arguement of Donovan never being a Big Fish in a Big Pond.

To further talk about Pato who be starting if he was not at Milan? Altidore had a better U-20 world cup(which is the competition that put Pato on the map) but Pato happened to be Brasilian so he moved to a much better and was given the shot to start….. Who couldnt do good getting the ball from Pirlo, Seedorf, Kaka and Ronaldinho? Sorry for going off onto a tangent.

All in All I def respect your opinion and I thank you for present your point of view cause I was than allowed to make the counter argument and I am sure that I have left many homeruns at the plate for you to swing at in a counter of my counter argument but what would sports be without opposing views.

P.S. Brooklyn or Queens deserve the 20th team Peace and Im out

  20. Here is LD games with all the boys and mens US National teams. I think they are pretty accurate.

    games (Goals)

    1998–1999 United States U-17 41 (35)

    2001 United States U-20 4 (0)

    2000 United States U-23 15 (9)

    2000– United States 121 (42

And during this time he could not even make it in the Big Euro leagues. Not until this year at Everton did he hold his own. He did not rip up the EPL only held his own.

    ,

Meanwhile, AC MIlan has a Brazil Striker, PATO, who has been playing and Starting for the past 2 to 3 years. And Pato is only 20 years old. And Pato is much better than Donovan and Pato can hardly make the National team of Brasil.

Anybody who is any good is with the real Mens National team at that age. Look at Brasilian Ronaldo- He was with the Brasil team who won the WC in 1994 in Los Angeles. At the time he was only 17 years old.

If LD was Great he would have been with the USMNT and not the Under – what ever age. Landon is good- but not great.

LD will never be a big fish in a big pond. The quality is just not there.

  21. Always interesting to see the sheer number of folks who know absolutely nothing about the Sounder organization offer their ill-informed opinions.

    Landon was awesome on Saturday.
    So was his team.
Seattle collapsed under the constant pressure and I suspect plenty of teams will.
Seattle has multiple injuries this season (injuries this blog has failed to point all season) that has hamstrung the team.
Seattle has some morale problems on the team that may finally be addressed next week.
Seattle giving back the money from this game to the fans (and that’s only renewing fans next season, btw) is a mere blip on the radar screen financially. To say it’s “dumb”…… well, you know, consider the source.

  24. it’s a great marketing move. they are telling their fans (and the public) they will be accountable financially $$$ for their mistakes.

    other teams should take note.

im sure behind closed doors their like, “Sigi, we can’t afford to do this too often, so you better get ur a$$ in gear quick!”

    that’s how it should be.

  25. Seattle giving the refund is a huge sign of respect to their fans.

I hope they do make lots of moves this summer ande get back some respect from the rest of the league….. Beasley and Gomez are both very fast and would thrive on their turf field….. Beas maybe a little less cause of his knees but it is a risk worth taking if they can get him for non DP money
