Houston visits Real Salt Lake in Western Conference clash tonight

Real Salt Lake will look for some revenge tonight when it plays host to the Houston Dynamo (9pm, ESPN2) in a rematch of a hotly-contested Dynamo victory earlier in the season.

Both teams are coming in playing well of late, with RSL looking to build on a two-match winning streak while the Dynamo come in off a solid 2-0 win vs. Chivas USA.

The Dynamo won their first meeting, 2-1, in a match that saw Jamison Olave called for a controversial penalty and Brad Davis convert a pair of penalty kicks.

RSL has Javier Morales back healthy and is looking like the defending MLS Cup champion it is, while the Dynamo continue to try and cope with the loss of midfielder Geoff Cameron, who was lost for the season with a torn ACL.

Who do we see winning tonight? RSL is playing very well right now and will look to catch Houston in the West standings with a victory. RSL wins, 2-1.

What do you think of tonight's match? Who do you see winning?

  1. I’m rooting for RSL, but that’s just because the Dynamo slammed the Wizards last time. Then again, I’m sure RSL would have to, so… T_T

  2. well, since Houston had ZERO shots on goal during the run of play last matchup, and I assume they’re not bringing their own officials to this match, RSL will shut them out easily at home. 3-love.

  3. Real is so much better than Houston. Not only does Real win tonight, but they will control majority of the play, have more shots on goal, and Houston’s only real chance of a goal is if Landin flops in the Box again. Sorry Houston, we’re the better team.

  4. I wanna see the rookie forward (appiah?) get in. Last time he was in, a nice easy finish got him a goal. I heard his strength, though, is his speed.

  5. Landin is frustrating. His general lack of fitness makes me doubt his commitment to the team, who paid a lot for him. Ching and Oduro would be nice at forward for this game, but Ching might not be fit for a full 90. Even as a Houston fan, I predict a 2-2 tie.

  6. Wish ESPN would do a little more advertising for a game on one of its own channels. I know there might not be huge names involved, but hell, it’s your own channel.

Glad that the games are still on every Thursday at least.

  7. RSL is too tough at home and has a healthy Morales in the midfield again. RSL wins 1-0 off a goal from Saborio..

  8. I hope Houston wins. Other than the fact that Landin is an incompetent player, Houston is better. Houston wins this one 3-1.

  9. Palmer will hold down the midfield like ge has been, and Brad Davis will continue his hot streak. Plus, as I understand it, this is Brian Ching’s send off (and the first time we will have two starting forwards healthy in a while). Houston comes back home after beating RSL 2-1.
