The English Premier League title will be decided today as Chelsea looks to hold onto its lead for one more day while Manchester United hopes for a chance to catch them.

Chelsea faces Wigan today and a win will secure the league title, but a tie or loss could open the door for Manchester United to win its fourth straight league crown. That is assuming United can dispose of Stoke City.

The English Premier League finishes play today, while Serie A kicks off a full slate of action as well. Roma and Inter Milan are still battling for the Serie A crown and both teams are in action today.

  1. Bolton scored apparently. Don’t know who got the goal because I dont have a good feed. Anybody have a good feed?

  2. Man City/West Ham game really quite entertaining. Very lively, couple of good goals and West Ham is actually showing some midfield and offensive presence. It also helps that we don’t have to worry about Specs giving away goals.

  3. Trust me, I bookmarked the MLS homepage long ago….but sometimes when I’m just browsing around on ESPN I want to go to MLS, and I figure since I’m already on the darn thing I don’t need to go to my bookmarks.

I just find it crazy that it’s so “difficult” for someone to come across the MLS page without a relatively drawn-out process. Soccernet is a mess.

  4. So that’s 5 (?) goals in his loan stint… not incredible but decent production in a good league. Good for him (and not saying he should be called up to the nats)

  5. Aris tied up. Rafik scored for AEK. Hope EJ and Freddy are taking notes. Too bad they probably wont be able to tell the MNT players about him at the camp

  6. Does anyone have a feed for the bolton v birmingham match? Can’t find one that works. Wouldn’t you know that the one time that Holden might be playing in two months and I can’t find a good feed. FML.

  7. Stu on the bench and his English look-a-like in goal for Birmingham? Just need the cameras to catch it. Ledley king is playing his fourth game in a row. Anyone think he’ll get called up?

  8. Well it was bound to happen – after three horrific games, Spector has been relegated to the bench. Nice to see Holden’s name as a sub again and Dempsey starting.

  9. It seems Inter are so busy enjoying the Roma result that they are staring to let a 4-1 game slip away. Wouldn’t it be something if Chievo puts one more in here and Roma pulls a two goal come back in the other game? This is football, anything is possible.

  10. Perhaps Mr. Smith, the team and some fans don’t think that Beas is deserving of a medal? He played a few games, some of them quite well to boot, but it’s a long season and the Manager has to reward the players who did the business. Nothing injects bad blood into a team like rewarding mediocrity or the ordinary or showing undeserved favoritism.

I am not calling Beas mediocre and would love to have another Yank claim another European medal. But from my personal, limited understanding of the situation I cannot honestly say that Beas deserves a medal this season.

  11. Hopefully he finds himself in a better situation with a different team. He had a lot of success in Holland. Maybe he should think about going back there

  12. Love how every single EPL team plays today and kicks off at the same time. Not so many years ago, all the games were played at 3pm on a Saturday, before the demands of T.V took over. Now it’s just on the last day of the season.

  13. I would like to share my personal Odyssey to locate the MLS main page on ESPNsoccernet. Pardon the length.

First, I went to the ESPN main page, and decided to click the “Soccer” link at the top. This took me to ESPNsoccernet, which is basically the Premier League’s homepage, because all the main news is about the PL and the picture is always an extreme close-up of Alex Ferguson, Rafa Benítez, or Wayne Rooney.

Now, I start searching the drop-down menus at the top for any whiff of MLS. First, I look under “Sections,” which has a promising “United States Soccer” link. Unfortunately, this takes me to a World Cup main page that has no trace of an MLS link. So I go back to the Soccernet homepage. The only other drop-down menu that could possibly have anything to do with MLS is the “Global” menu, which seems to have links to every major league outside of Europe (even the A-League!), except the national league of the country where ESPN is based!! So, I click the “Home” link under the “Global” menu.

Finally, I now see actual MLS news on this “Global” main page, but this is far from an MLS-only site, as evidenced by the Primera División de Chile points table at the far right of the page. Luckily, I spy a “CONCACAF” drop-down menu at the top, and it actually has a “USA: MLS” link! But, no, this does NOT take me to the MLS main page, but the MLS points table. ONLY NOW do I see an “MLS” link at the top of the page, which takes me to El Dorado, the long-rumored MLS homepage on ESPNsoccernet.

So, to recap, if you want to get to the MLS main page on ESPN (without just Googling it, that is…), you have to go to ESPN > click “Soccer” > ESPNsoccernet > click “Home” under the “Global” menu > Global Home > click “US: MLS” under the “CONCACAF” menu > MLS league table > click “MLS” > MLS homepage. In all, that’s 4 clicks from the ESPN main page. While that’s certainly not very arduous, do you think the “Worldwide Leader” (*retch*) might make a credible American sports league more readily clickable for both the diehard supporter and the curious newbie ?

Maybe I’m just doing it wrong…

  14. I am really disappointed in Walter Smith for not letting Beas get any time today. There is nothing left to play for and all Beasley needed was one more appearance to recieve a winners medal. That seems like a major F U.

  15. Roma’s down a point in the race. Inter is manhandling Chievo 3-1 right now at the half (Chievo’s only goal being off of Motta) and Roma is tied with Cagliari. Roma has to win this game to have any hope of winning the title, and even then it looks like they’ll need Inter to choke.

  16. No Gooch on the bench today, disappointing.

We can get a good look at Bojan Jokic today at LB for Chievo. See what Stu Holden/Dempsey/Bedoya/Spector will have to work against.

Cheeky chip from Milito, Inter running away now…

  17. Lots of Italian drama right now. Inter-Chievo’s 2 own goals making it 1-1 and Parma/Juventus fans causing some sort of serious delay right before a free kick. Did anyone see what actually happened?
