FC Barcelona will be looking to lift the Spanish First Division championship trophy this weekend, while Real Madrid will be hoping for a slip from the champions so they can pounce.

Barcelona leads Real Madrid by a point heading into this final weekend, with relegation-battling Real Valladolid standing between the champions and a repeat. A Barcelona tie or loss could open the door for Real Madrid, which faces Malaga on Sunday.

Chelsea will be hoping to lift a trophy of its own on Sunday, with the Blues taking on Portsmouth in the FA Cup Final. Chelsea has already won the English Premier League title, and will be looking to do the double under head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

MLS action will be in full swing on Saturday, with Eastern Conference strugglers Kansas City and Chicago facing off in the national FSC match, while the New York Red Bulls face the Seattle Sounders in another intriguing match-up.

  1. I am looking forward to the Chelsea Porsmouth final. I would have been hoping for an underdog win anyway, but since I hate Chelsea, GO PORTSMOUTH!:)

Also, the MLS games should be good. Crew vs. Chivas should be a great game and, hopefully, the Quakes beat the crap out of the Revs:)

  2. Where is the love for the German Cup Final? It is Bayern — this year’s Bundesliga Champion and CL finalist — against Bremen — the current defending Cup champion and CL aspirant. Both teams feature a prominent number of players whom we will see again in South Africa, specifically but not exclusively for Germany, France, Holland and Argentina. The game itself unfolds in one of the most historic locations in sports, the Olympic stadium in Berlin. I totally appreciate the significance of the FA cup and the title races in Spain and Italy, but German football deserves a little bit more recognition in light of its recent successes (see Bayern going for the triple; Team Germany finished second in Euro 2008).

  3. I still feel MLS’ tv coverage absolutely blows. MLS needs to get a strong contract with some network, any network. Fox? ESPN? I don’t care as long as they get more of their matches on tv. I don’t live in an MLS market (Atlanta) so i can only watch the ESPN2 televised match of the week, and then the occasional one on FSC and sometimes i’ll find one on one of those weird 600 level channels. Anyone else feel me?

  4. With an outburst of three teams scoring 4 goals each last week, and RSL hanging 3 on Houston last night, I’d say they have stepped up their games.

Anyone wish there was at least on MLS game around 12 or 1 in the afternoon? I hate having to wait until 4 or so for the first MLS game of the day to kick off.

  5. Does anyone know how this Fifa.com business works?

The Mexico v Chile friendly is supposedly on there but I don’t know where to look on the site.

    Anything for us Ives?

  6. This is the time of the year when MLS gets more looks from international viewers who are bored with lack of games to watch. Time to step our game up

  7. Can’t believe the games that will determine the Scudetto in Serie A won’t be televised… Roma and Inter both have everything to play for this weekend.
