San Jose Earthquakes at Real Salt Lake: Your Running Commentary

The MLS season resumes in Sandy, Utah, as MLS Cup holder Real Salt Lake welcomes the San Jose Earthquakes to Rio Tinto Stadium for a Western Conference encounter (9 p.m., MLS Direct Kick).

Salt Lake is still without the services of injured midfielder Kyle Beckerman and U.S. men's national team striker Robbie Findley, but with the way that Javier Morales and Alvaro Saborio have guided the team in their stead, they can afford to miss more time to fully recover/continue a magical World Cup run.

San Jose, meanwhile, received a bounce-back performance from midfielder Bobby Convey during the first 12 weeks of the season, and the Quakes will look to him and surprise goal-scoring threat Chris Wondolowski to spearhead an upset.

If you will be watching the game either on television or via Internet feed, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and any play-by-play in the comments section below. Enjoy the match!

  1. we’ll take it. after losing our starting CM most of us SJ fans were none-too-confident. Cronin stepped right in and did admirably- thanks Preki!

  2. Bad commentary and probably a worse game… The game was ready for a goal and just never finished up. RSL needs to remember how to shoot.

  3. you’re right ericJ. My apologies. Its just that i get easily riled up when there are “1st year” Seattle fans out there who think MLS had no passionate fans who would bleed their club’s colors before Seattle entered the league.

  4. Seriously?

SJ 14 shots 8 on goal

RSL 13 shots 1 on goal

RSL 8 saves SJ 1 save

8 to 1 shots on goal and SJ played negative soccer? Hard to believe.

On the other hand, who cares?

  5. Don’t be ignorant and generalize please. Rather, you should make your observations more specific to ensure their accuracy such as follows: “JJ is full of himself”.

  6. it’s pretty funny how a running commentary turned into everyone talking about how MLS is irrelevant for the next 2 weeks or so. Not a single comment on the game and it’s long over. Go USA!!!

  7. RSL still undefeated at home! Can Seattle Pounders fans say that?

Who’s the MLS champs?? Not Seattle!
