SBI Viewing Party for USA v. England Game

Us-soccer-fed1       England_crest

While Ives will be traveling down to the World Cup, the folks staying behind at SBI have decided to host a viewing party for the USA v. England match on June, 12.

The party will be at Dempsey's at 61 2nd Avenue, between 3rd and 4th street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Dempsey's is great place to watch a soccer game with a lot of TVs and a great atmosphere.

We have put together a drink special for our readers to partake in. It will b 30$ all you can drink beer and wine from 1-5 PM. The SBI readership will have a back area roped off just for us from 12 until 1:45 to talk and get to know each other. The wristbands will only be sold until 1:45 when the back area will be opened up to general public.

There are drink specials for anyone coming late, choosing not to take advantage of the all you can drink wristband. Those specials will be posted on the site next week.

We would love to have any viewers in the New York area choose to watch one of the most highly anticipated matches of the tournament with SBI.

  12. Any drinking games?
    Here’s a few suggestions:
    * chug when Harksey says fantastic
    * chug when Harksey says side instead of team
    * chug when either Clark or Bradley get carded
    * finish your drink immediately if Bornstein gets subbed in

  14. I’m from Greenwood. Is one of the couple a native, or have they just relocated there?

I would have to second going to Greenville or Columbia for the match. It isn’t but 45 minutes to an hour’s drive to Columbia, which isn’t that bad if you are using to commuting in a large city.

  15. Looking for suggestions for Philadelphia for the first match, Amsterdam for the second, and Cologne for the final group match-up. I know nothing of the European cities, and very little about Philadelphia.

  16. I reviewed this with Temyrss Lane and it appears it was cancelled. I think they probably couldn’t get one of the hotels to host it. There is Crown & Anchor the Official US Soccer Pub (per http://www.ussoccer.com) but its actually a darn Brit Pub and will not be an official US pub that day. There is also Mulligans which is an Irish soccer pub.

I also heard ESPN Zone and Planet Hollywood will have “viewing areas”

I’m in Vegas for a vacation and will be at one of these places for the England US game.

  20. The Dynamo FO is doing a good job. They’re throwing a party at Discovery Green (park in downtown) with an projector screen, beer booths, cheerleader, giveaways, etc. for USA & Mexico openers.

But I’ll probably be at Earnie’s on Banks with the rest of AO.

  21. Haven’t been there for a while, so maybe it’s closed, but I used to watch a sh*t load of Kings games at a big sports bar way out on the Granite Bay side of Douglas, across from a Jack in the Box. Don’t know if that helps. Go USA!

  22. I’m from Roseville. I’ve never really heard of any soccer bars in the area, but I’ll check it out though. I might just have friends over at my house since I’ll be returning from school for the summer.

    Thanks.

  23. Sounds like a plan. A bunch of us were trying to figure out where to go. The “other bar” in that neighborhood tends to get too crowded for big games and is likely to have a bigger English presence.

  24. There’s also some Irish bar giving away beers with every goal against France! Anyone know where that one is?

  26. They are showing the game at the ballpark? This is news to me. To add to your list:

    Danny Coyles
    Kezar Pub

Those two are great venues for US games.

  27. HAHA! 1) why are you in NinetySix? 2) There is literally NOTHING in that town. 3) Drive to Greenville and find a place on Main St. There is a good Irish Bar where I watched the ’06 games (forgot the name, but you cant miss it).
