It took a wild and nerve-racking rally, but the United States men's national team managed to keep their World Cup hopes alive in a 2-2 draw with Slovenia.
A number of U.S. players had a good game, and fans voted Landon Donovan as the FIFA Man of the Match. However, players like Michael Bradley and Steve Cherundolo also put in impressive performances at Ellis Park.

Donovan’s goal was so impressive. You could tell by the way he put it away that there was no way that he was not going to score a goal. I look at Landon as the de facto captain of this team, no offense to Carlos, and that goal showed why: it was Landon taking the team on his back and changing the face of the game. He stepped up and took control and I loved to see him do it. Our team shouldn’t need him to do that because they should be responsible and effective enough that he doesn’t need to, but in that situation I was so proud to see him do what he did.
