Spanish playmaker Andres Iniesta might not be making any plays against Switzerland in a week. The Barcelona star hurt his thigh in La Furia Roja's final World Cup tune-up against Poland on Tuesday.

While the scans showed no tear, there was bruising in his right thigh. Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque will want to be careful with his midfield anchor as Iniesta was hampered by thigh injuries over the past year.

The Spanish Football Federation said the injury would take around one week to recover, but with so many options at Spain's disposal like Cesc Fabregas and Xavi, the team will likely sit Iniesta in their opener.

SUAZO RETURNS TO TRAINING

Another Group H team received some good news today as striker Humberto Suazo returned to training Wednesday for Chile. The Real Zaragoza standout is recovering from a small hamstring tear that he suffered on May 31 against Israel.

Originally team doctors said it would take up to three weeks for recovery, but Suazo is ahead of schedule. The top scorer in CONMEBOL qualifying could be ready to play in Chile's opener on Tuesday against Honduras.

Chile does have some other scoring options and they showed that today with a 2-0 victory over New Zealand. Gonzalo Fierro and Estedan Parades led the attack for Chile with a goal a piece. The match was played in three 30 minute segments to get all of the players a run in each team's final tuneup.

ITALIAN DUO PROVIDES GOOD NEWS

Mauro Camoranesi returned to training for the Azzuri for the first time since injuring his knee in training on June 1. The Italians feared the worst for the Juventus right winger, but some exercises to test the left knee went well in Italy's first training session in South Africa.

There was more good news for the defending World Cup champions as Andrea Pirlo is targeting a return in the final group match against Slovakia. Pirlo is recovering from a calf strain he suffered in a friendly against Mexico last week. The AC Milan playmaker is essential to Italy's chances of defending its crown.

MORAS OUT FOR GREECE

Vangelis Moras has been ruled out of Greece's opener against South Korea. The Bologna defender is battling an ankle injury that occurred in training. The tallest field player in Serie A is a big loss for the Greeks as they open against a disciplined South Korean team.

Moras is hopeful that his ankle will be ready for Greece's pivotal match against Nigeria on June 17th.

SWITZERLAND CAPTAIN INJURES ANKLE

Alexander Frei hurt his ankle in training, and Switzerland awaits the results of medical tests to determine the severity of the injury to its captain.

Frei was tackled hard by teammate Steve von Bergen during practice, and his absence would be a huge blow to the Swiss' chances in its World Cup quest.
