World Cup: Slovakia vs. Paraguay (Your Running Commentary)

Slovakia Crest    Paraguay Crest

After a pair of draws in its opening matches, Group F looks to clear up a bit when Paraguay faces Slovakia (7:30am, ESPN).

Both teams will be aiming to make amends for surrendering leads in their first fixtures, and a win here would help them get a step closer to the Round of 16.

Slovakia will be hoping that attackers Marek Hamsik and Vladimir Weiss can help it grab three points, while Paraguay will lean on the attacking forays of Roque Santa Cruz, Oscar Cardozo and Nelson Valdez to claim victory.

  1. If you had told me anytime before this World Cup that there would be attendance issues at a World Cup I would have thought you were crazy. What a failure

  2. This really is embarrasing to the World Cup. Brazil this is what you get when you price gouge on hotels and airlines. Remember this in four years, because if you don’t, your stadiums will be equally empty.

  3. Paraguay in the driver’s seat in this group now, a 2 goal win over Slovakia and only New Zealand standing between them and a group win. Pressure on Italy now.

  4. Someone said yesterday that all the ‘American’ nations, north and south, could qualify (minus Honduras) and I tend to agree.

  5. Paraguay is looking impressive! Nice and quick ball movement in the first half, a great finish on the goal by Vera, and great high pressure at the correct moment.

  6. Vamos Albirroja! The trio of Santa Cruz, Barrios, and Nelson Valdez are dangerous up top and our defense is still pretty stout. We’re going to be a team that none of the favorites want to see in the knockout stages!
