  1. The whole team looks Mediocre in league Play , The Redbulls are very inconsitent . they win 3 loos 4 win 4 loos 3
But i dont feel NY fans are a big hash on Richards . I think they are some of the toughest people to please .

  2. Right before Richards went to take that shot I somehow felt he was going to 1) make the effort on goal, and 2) it was going to fly in. That is because it was setting up all too much like his goal against Santos. Now, why can he not do that in league play?

  3. i must say i prefer my color guy to use correct grammar and enunciate. sorry if that is offensive. i despise phil simms in the nfl too.

  4. Second that. The gap is there, but it’s not nearly as large as euro-snobs make it out to be. Please get off the announcers…who cares….

  5. Now that the gap in skill has been cut, all we have to criticize with American soccer is the announcers? The announcers made it fun. But I thought this whole preseason for the EPL has been pretty dismal or the MLS is just getting better. While it isn’t completely indicative of the USA since the MLS is getting tons of foreigners, they have been very competitive. I don’t care that the best players aren’t here, it is clear that the top talent in the MLS isn’t too far away from being able to contribute in Euope.

  6. Why do some people make the broadcasters more important than the game? The people who complain about commentary aren’t purists and have such short attention spans they have to always have someone talking to them. I could care less if the commentator is good or bad. It’s the soccer I care about. Good win for Red Bulls.

Commentator bashers, who cares…they’re commentators. They weren’t even that bad. Some people just always need something to complain about.

Never mind an MLS team was playing with Henry in a gorgeous new SSS against a Champions League caliber team…lets complain about the commentating..stupid…

  7. I didnt mind either. FSC can get worse commentators. At least FSC didnt hire the very dull Dellamarca or the awful HArkes

  8. Yes it did. Look it up. Here are just 4 of the players that were on the pitch today:

Craig Bellamy – 14 million pounds
Emanuel Adebayor – 25 million pounds
    Jo – 19 million pounds
Joleon Lescott – 22 million pounds

Don’t kid yourself. They may not have brought their “stars”, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t paid out the butt for their “squad” players.

  9. how do they lose stamina when they get subbed out? If anything, the MLS players are in midseason form and are very fit.

  10. This shouldn’t be a tournament of any kind. There’s no need for medal, trophies, points, etc. Come on now. It’s a little embarrassing.

  11. I actually didn’t mind the commentary. Sure he babbled but I thought he made the game exciting. Sort of like an American version of the Mexican commentators.

  12. I think it’s a pretty common rule at most stadiums. Sure you might be able to bring them in, but I doubt you can open one up. When have you ever at any sporting event (aside from golf) seen umbrellas. It would be ridiculous to see a whole stadium of people with umbrellas open.
(Of course, I just did a quick google search and the one place that I found that does allow them is Yankee Stadium)

  13. MLS teams do well in 1st half, but they lose stam when the bench players come in the 2nd half.

Domination by NY in the 1st Half, but no Henry/Angel????

  14. I could care less what the Brits think about the announcers. Maybe they should worry more about why hundreds of millions of dollars can’t buy you a win over NYRB.

  15. “not one fan with an umbrella at red bull arena”

yeah, no sh*t. they likely aren’t allowed inside, right?

(SBI-Not sure about them being banned but the seats at Red Bull Arena are covered by a roof so most fans stay dry.)

  16. I had to put the game on mute. These babbling announcers have no clue what’s going on out there. Also, they make Henry seem lime he’s the only player on the pitch. He’s not even playing that great..

On another note..Richards burning Bridge?!? Things have gone terribly wrong here.

  17. Who is the color commentator on this broadcast? He needs a new line of work.

Also, who is that guy posing as Dane Richards for NYRB?

  18. I can’t WAIT until the honeymoon period is over… I think that Henry is great, but man these announcers are too much to take.

  20. I’m watching through a British feed on atdhe, that appears to be getting its feed via FSC. If this is the case, I’m sorry the Brits have to listen to American announcers:[
