As a brutal heatwave hits much of the United States today, there will be plenty of soccer to watch for those of you who decide to stay in rather than brave the elements.

There is Major League Soccer action, but there is also Mexican League action for those of you who follow it, or are planning to start following it. Pachuca kick into action against Club America, and with three Americans on the roster (Jose Francisco Torres, Herculez Gomez and Marco Vidal), 'Los Tuzos' have become a new favorite team for many Americans.

Today's MLS action kicks off with Toronto FC taking on FC Dallas at 4pm in a match-up of teams fighting for a playoff place.

If you will be watching today's action, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.

  1. Allsopp had a hat trick in DC’s 4-0 win vs. Portsmouth. That’s gotta be by far one of the worst foreign team ever to tour the US.

  2. Oh my….That was a HORRIBLE open net miss by the America forward. Montenegro I believe his name is? Yeah, that’s not exactly helping the giant wound America are going to walk out of here with.

  3. is America really looking that bad? i haven’t been watching the whole thing, and i see that America is out-shooting them 16(2) – 6(4)… granted those on target numbers are huge

  4. Damian Manso has been sent off I think. His second yellow of the game. Didn’t look yellow worthy, especially considering he already has been booked. He had a slight tug on the shoulder of a player and while it deterred his run a bit, it wasn’t yellow worthy, if you ask me anyways.

  5. I’m not sure, but I believe that was Paco ripping that righty effort from a good 24-25. Somewhat easy for the goalie, but it was NOT easy to handle.

Another shot, this one well wide from Jose.

  6. Portsmouth should just volunteer to go down to Coca-Cola 2 since they’re headed there in a couple years anyways.

  7. Things going well for Pachuca. 2-0 up at the half and looking pretty much in control of things. Torres has look decent. The first 15 minutes were mixed for him, connecting some good passes, including one good cross field switch for his right fullback, and some not so good passes. He calmed down after that, although he kind of seemed to disappear from the game for a little bit.

  8. lol Houston vs Crew has an interesting ref…

    Pretty sure I saw a handball, a WWE close line, a Karate Kid-esque trip…none called…

I mean who really needs to protect players making 40k…

  9. TFC vs Dallas wasn’t a bad second half but Mista looked very outpaced. On a few TFC attacks he was no where to be found. Hopefully it is just his adjustment period and he’ll improve and pick up the pace. Weird to say but that new DP ain’t as good as Chad Barrett, who actually looks very good on the wing.

  10. Could be an interesting one:

“…and to top it off, they’re uniforms haven’t made it. So they are tentatively scheduled to wear D.C. United white kits, and DCU will wear black.”

  11. This is the 1st time I’ve ever been excited for a Mexican league game. Pachuca’s new number one fan right here.

  12. Well not the best game but I think the outcome was better than maybe FCD played. The weather was huge factor in the game and 1-1 tie is a good as you can expect.

  13. Toronto diving and Hacking all over the field. Mista did nothing. Sanyang doing his best Dutch performance injurying whoever he can and then diving. The ref sucked pretty bad.

  14. yes at the start of the second half they actually have live sound. so it should get better. You can now hear the drums and some chants that Toronto is famous for.

  15. They can’t even show the game in HD because they are sending the feed through a studio that in Dallas that doesn’t have HD broadcasting (where the announcers are at). That crowd noise would be great on my alarm clock. FCDallas; old school MLS quality.

  16. There sure is a lot of sloppy play in Toronto. I know it is raining but you would think they would have the right shoes for these conditions

  17. HaHaHa – the Dynamo wishes Pachuca the best. Come back to Houston anytime.

Are the FCD commentators even in Toronto?? Is that what their FO sees as coverage? Guess they’re trying to run out what fans they have left.

  18. Edgar Castillo is on loan at San Luis, for those who are adamant that he should have started in the World Cup (or similar foolishness) and would like to bask in his glory.
