Toronto FC at Philadelphia Union: Your Running Commentary

A late-game Dwayne De Rosario penalty was all that separated these two teams during their first ever meeting in April. Now, the Union look to avenge early-season defeat as Toronto visits PPL Park for the first time in Philly's short existence.

TFC puts their astounding 11-game unbeaten run on the line against a Philadelphia side that's coming off an impressive 1-0 victory over Celtic midweek. Union fans will look to their leader Sebastien Le Toux who has five goals and two assists in five home matches his year.

A win for Philadelphia propels the Union out of the eastern conference cellar while all three points for the Reds brings them within striking distance of the eastern lead.

If you will be watching the match, please feel free to share any thoughts, opinions and play-by-play in the comments section below.

  1. Didn’t say that no. But I would assume well before the time where he’s ready to be a factor for the senior side.

But of course the sooner the better. Would be nice to get him with the U-20s though.

  2. Good signing for KC, even though the Wizards seem like a random choice for him to sign for. I assume he counts as a DP?

  3. Between Okugo, Seitz, Jack Mac, and Mwanga, this team has a lot of good young talent to compete for several years if they all develop correctly.

That was a good game from the union. Still need to work on cutting down the defensive errors but they certainly play a nice attacking game. I liked what I saw from Okugo. His passing needs work but he made a nice run where both of his options to pass to got knocked down.

  5. Anyone else chuckling at the footage the showed of Henry practicing with New York during halftime of the SJ/Tottenham game? The first thing they showed in that footage was Henry embarassing Andrew Boyens.

  6. The only thing that could be worse is to have Rick Riley have a filler piece on waiting for the match to start. No!!!!

  7. Okay, now they’ve got a “programming alert” scrolling. Kick is at 4:20 ET. Way to update us five minutes into the timeslot.

  8. That would be me.

I’m upset that the match isn’t on, but I’m more upset that they can’t provide me with one of their programming updates saying “oh, by the way…”

  9. It wouldn’t be. CBC only streams to Canadians

Also, Mista is not dressed due to some delay in his transfer certificate, apparently.

  10. Pregame feature on Philly local TV on Danny Mwanga. He is in the process of obtaining US citizenship and wants to play for the USMNT.

  11. I’ve enjoyed watching Philly play this season. They have some good young talent on their team. I hope TFC doesn’t play for a tie today.

  12. TFC need three points on the round at least 3 times this season. This is one of those games they need to get those points.
