The U.S. men's national team saw its World Cup end less than a month ago, but time waits for no team and now it is just three weeks until the United States returns to the field to take on Brazil on August 10th at the new Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey.

The first post-World Cup friendly should feature most of the team's top stars, but it should also offer the opportunity for a few new faces to be called in. Whether it is Bob Bradley, or some other coach, whoever picks the team will probably call in a few players who weren't part of the U.S. World Cup team.

With that in mind, here is our question for you. Which player who didn't make the U.S. World Cup team would you like to see be called in for the Brazil friendly? We'll only implement two exclusions, Jermaine Jones and Charlie Davies. Both are recovering from lengthy injury ordeals and both are working their way back with the respective clubs, making a call-up at this point in their recoveries very questionable (assuming either is even healthy enough for full international duty).

So, there you have it. Select ONE player you are hoping to see be called in for the Brazil friendly who wasn't on the World Cup team.

  1. Freddy needs to get consisten minutes with a Club before getting consistent minutes with the National Team. To me 1/2 of a season in rotation in the Greek league isn’t enough to get the kind of minutes for the National Team that you’re looking for. Maybe he’ll be deserving around the 2011 Gold Cup.

  2. No, Adu is fine in a lower European team; until he gets back in form back. Coming back to MLS means that his career is at a peak of about to end or or almost over. Like Mcbride, Keller, and Reyna. Him coming back to MLS will not help.

  3. “Danial Williams, Mikkel Diskerud, Michael Hoyos, Omar Gonzalez, Eric Lichaj, Alejandro Bedoya, & Edgar Castillo”

Add Lleget as well. Would be awesome to see all of them called up.

  4. A new goalkeeper.

We need to work Guzan into the starting lineup and find areplacement for Hahnemann.

Howard had a mediocre to poor tournament and needs to be pushed more.

  5. my only problem is this is a Thank You match for the support of the world cup to the fans. I think you will see mostly the same squad you saw in the world cup as you will against Brazil. Fans paying good money are going to want to see the US best against Brazil and not unknowns. It’s best to wait until the Janurary camp to start bringing in the new generation of US talent.

  10. How about Dilly Duka? #10 last year at the U20 World Cup who’s a fearless winger/attacker. He impressed me more than Mikkel Diskerud. On second thought, probably not the best time to see them. Where’s Dilly anyways?

    Freddy Adu’s my pick.
