In the aftermath of Jaime Moreno announcing that this season will be his last with the team, D.C. United welcomes one of the league's hottest teams, FC Dallas, to RFK Stadium (8 p.m., MLS Direct Kick).

Between the bevy of injuries, Curt Onalfo's dismissal as coach midway through the season and the latest Moreno news, much is unsettled in D.C.'s camp. Tonight marks Ben Olsen's first home match as interim head coach, though, something that should excite the United faithful.

FC Dallas, meanwhile, hasn't lost since dropping a 1-0 decision to the Los Angeles Galaxy on May 20, going 5-0-4 in that span to climb all the way to third place in the Western Conference. Jeff Cunningham scored twice against the Philadelphia Union in his last game, meaning his patented late-season scoring run could be upon us, though he'll start tonight's match on the bench.

I'll be providing live commentary from RFK Stadium, so please feel free to follow along and share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Enjoy the match (commentary after the jump).

—————-

POSTGAME – That'll do it for me from RFK for now. Keep checking SBI for some postgame reaction from the locker rooms. Thanks for following along everybody. Good night!

—————-

POSTGAME – Ugly stuff, but three points are three points. FCD will take them, while DCU has to wallow over another tough loss.

—————-

POSTGAME – Not one of the better played matches this season. D.C. controlled the first 35 minutes before a defensive lapse led to an early goal. Shea used his size and physicality to guide the build-up to Alexander's goal. D.C. got on the board with an own-goal, and a late miscue by Jakovic led to Cunningham's easy chance.

—————-

90th Minute – That's it! Final whistle. FC Dallas is unbeaten in 10 matches. FCD 3, DCU 1.

—————-

90th Minute – Jakovic falls asleep on a long clearance attempt from Benitez allowing Cunningham to sneak in, take the ball and go in at Hamid 1vKeeper. One touch to the right and another to settle before slotting the shot into an empty net for Cunningham's third goal in two games. The veteran striker creeps within four goals of Jaime Moreno for the league's all-time record (132-128) as Moreno watches from the sideline.

—————-

90th MinuteGOAL DALLAS!!!! JEFF CUNNINGHAM PUTS THIS ONE AWAY. 3-1!

—————-

90th Minute – Olsen urges his troops to advance forward. FIVE long minutes of stoppage time remain.

—————-

88th Minute – D.C. seeks a last-gasp equalizer. Dallas hoping to avoid a late collapse and missing out on what seemed to be a sure-thing three points.

—————-

85th Minute – Atiba Harris is down again after a foul by Najar. Fans aren't buying it, but there was contact. Each team has committed 10 fouls tonight.

—————-

82nd Minute – Jackson Goncalves makes his FCD debut replacing Shea in a defense-for-offense sub. Dallas in hold-on mode now.

—————-

81st Minute – It's not over yet….Quaranta sent in a beautiful inswinging cross to the far post that was headed for Najar, but Benitez extended his leg and touched it into his own net.

—————-

79th MinuteGOAL D.C.!! OWN GOAL ON JAIR BENITEZ!! 2-1 DALLAS

—————-

77th Minute – Cristman replaces Boskovic. Allsopp and Cristman are side-by-side in the two-target-forward look.

—————-

76th Minute – Najar with another hustle play to track down a seemingly wayward long pass and win a throw-in deep in Dallas territory.

—————-

74th Minute – Alexander limps off as the amount of stoppage time grows by the second. Bruno Guarda checks in for the goal scorer.

—————-

71st Minute – Shea puts a lovely cross in from the left, but Cunningham is half a step too late. Bad timing prevented that from becoming goal No. 3.

—————-

70th Minute – Burch picks up a delayed yellow for a late challenge on Harris. The advantage was played with Harris down on the ground.

—————-

69th Minute – James holds his ground 1v1 with Cunningham on the right side.

—————-

68th Minute – Pontius does well to man-up on Ferreira, preventing a potential breakout after a bad D.C. turnover in the middle of the pitch.

—————-

65th Minute – Cunningham almost scores seconds after coming on! A corner kick fell right to him at the far post, but his leaping header flew over the bar. Where was the marking?

—————-

65th Minute – 12,474 announced attendance tonight.

Jeff Cunningham replaces Milton Rodriguez for FC Dallas.

—————-

64th Minute – Nice idea by Alexander, seeking Shea on the left, but the pass is a tad to heavy.

—————-

60th Minute – Marvelous run from Najar on the right comes up short. He cut the ball back through two defenders but didn't have enough on his pass to get by a third.

—————-

58th Minute – "WE WANT JAIME," chants the crowd.

—————-

57th Minute – 3-5-2 for D.C., though Najar has played right back before this season, and King is playing a deep holding midfield position.

—————-

56th Minute – Pontius coming on for Devon McTavish as Ben Olsen changes up his tactical approach with an offense-for-defense sub.

—————-

54th Minute – Marc Burch is limping around the back for D.C. The last thing he needs is another foot injury. Looks like he'll try and run it off.

—————-

53rd Minute – Dejan Jakovic replaces Talley, who was shaken up on the collision with Shea.

—————-

52nd Minute – Allsopp with a chip shot from distance that goes well high. Nevertheless, his work rate has been impressive tonight.

—————-

50th Minute – Shea undercut Talley and won a 50-50 ball to start the play for FCD. David Ferreira carried the ball down to the endline on the left and sent in a cross that Rodriguez touched to an unmarked Alexander at the top of the area. Hamid didn't see the shot until it was in the back of the net. First goal of the season for Alexander, and Dallas has a 2-0 lead.

—————-

49th Minute GOAL DALLAS!! ERIC ALEXANDER WITH THE STRIKE FROM THE TOP OF THE AREA!

—————-

48th Minute – Hamid with a clean catch of a corner as George John whiffs on the header.

—————-

46th Minute – Back underway. No subs for either side.

—————-

HALFTIME – Poll time. Considering that FC Dallas has a league-fewest two losses, Ferreira and Shea have emerged as consistent offensive threats and Hartman has found his groove in goal:

—————-

HALFTIME – Man of the Half has been Hartman. Allsopp played inspired for D.C., and Ferreira turned it on over the final 10 minutes, but Hartman came up big a few times to hold down United.

—————-

45th Minute – There's the halftime whistle. It hasn't been pretty, but FC Dallas leads D.C. United, 1-0.

—————-

45th Minute – Ferreira with a wonderful job of stripping Najar of possesion deep in his own area and sending in a cross that earns a corner.

—————-

45th Minute – Three minutes of first-half stoppage time.

—————-

44th Minute – Hamid with another shaky moment, coming out to beat Rodriguez to a ball only to fumble it to his left before recovering. So-so night for the future stud keeper.

—————-

42nd Minute – Shea undercuts Najar for a 50-50 ball and both go down. Najar got the worst of it, but both are fine.

—————-

40th Minute – Credit Hartman for keeping D.C. off the board. His performance tonight and his performance at RFK in the teams' U.S. Open Cup meeting earlier this year are like night and day.

—————-

37th Minute – Another disheartening chapter in a disheartening season for D.C. The home team pretty much dominated the first 35 minutes, but McTavish lost Shea on the through ball, Hamid came off his line but wasn't aggressive enough on the ball, and Ferreira was unmarked for the shot. One poor defensive sequence was all FCD needed to capitalize.

—————-

36th MinuteGOAL DALLAS! Who else but David Ferreira?? A simple through ball by Alexander down the left put Shea in on Hamid, and the winger put an easy, low cross for Ferreira by the far post for an easy touch into an empty net. 1-0 Dallas.

—————-

35th Minute – Quaranta does well to track back and catch Ferreira from behind with a clean tackle to break up what could've been a 2-on-1 for FCD. Can't say the effort's not there for United.

—————-

34th Minute – SAVE HARTMAN!! Allsopp 1v1 right down Main St., but Hartman gets enough of a deflection to put the 18-yard shot wide left. WOW. Close.

—————-

32nd Minute – Quaranta's offside after a Najar-to-Hernandez cross had United sitting pretty. Santino was off on the left. He missed the shot anyway.

—————-

30th Minute – Burch and Quaranta with some nice combination play down the left after a bad touch by Ferreira. Deep throw-in for D.C.

—————-

28th Minute – SAVE HARTMAN! Great touch by Allsopp to put Boskovic in on goal, but the angle was a bit tight on the left, and Hartman got a paw on it. Dangerous moments for D.C.

—————-

27th Minute – Najar unleashes a one-man offensive show, busting down the right sideline 1-on-3. His cross goes through to Quaranta, whose 30-yard shot goes high.

—————-

26th Minute – Hamid punches away a Ferreira cross and recovers in time to make a clean catch of Alexander's rebound from distance.

—————-

25th Minute – Benitez puts a cross through the area that evades everyone but Ferreira earns a corner on the other side. First real chance for FCD.

—————-

23rd Minute – Julius James is down inside his own area after taking an off-the-ball bump from behind by Milton Rodriguez. Completely unnecessary, and Rodriguez picks up the first yellow card of the night.

—————-

21st Minute – Dallas has perfected the art of the backpass. Not a whole lot moving forward for the visitors tonight.

—————-

18th Minute – After a physical start, D.C. is controlling the run of play. Dallas has yet to find a rhythm offensively against a scrappy defensive effort.

—————-

16th Minute – Hartman comes up with a clean diving save on an Allsopp effort from the left.

—————-

14th Minute – Quaranta lofts a 40-yard free kick toward the far post. Hartman doesn't charge the ball, but no attacker is there to capitalize. Allsopp was closest.

—————-

10th Minute – Hernandez walks it off. We're about 50-50 with stoppage time and active playing through the first 10 minutes.

—————-

9th Minute – Hernandez goes down after yet another harsh challenge from behind, this one from Allsopp. We'll set the over/under of total cards at 4.5 after this rocky start.

—————-

8th Minute – Wonder if Heath Pearce is auditioning for a Boogie Nights remake after the match tonight. He's got quite the 'stache going on.

—————-

7th Minute – SAVE HARTMAN! Burch tried to pick out the lower right corner, but El Gato was all over it.

—————-

5th Minute – Shea hipchecks Hernandez off the ball and Okulaja halts play to sort things out. High level of physicality to start things off tonight. Talley's down from an incident off the ball. Free kick coming for D.C. from about 28 yards out on the right.

—————-

5th Minute – Najar takes a tumble outside of the box but no luck drawing the foul. Abiodun Okulaja is our referee.

—————-

2nd Minute – DCU plays through an FCD injury as Eric Alexander took the brunt of a Carey Talley challenge. Offside called on United anyway.

—————-

1st Minute – We are underway. D.C. in the all blacks, Dallas in the red uniforms with white horizontal stripes. I'll predict a 2-0 Dallas victory as Hyndman breaks his so-called curse.

—————-

PREGAME – The one's to watch tonight: A couple of in-form Dallas attackers in David Ferreira and Brek Shea and a couple of D.C. youngsters in winger Andy Najar and keeper Bill Hamid. The storylines and stakes might not be the strongest or highest tonight, but at least there's some promising young talent in the house.

—————-

PREGAME – Nice ovation from the scant crowd at RFK for Ben Olsen. With how low the bar has been set he can do no wrong the rest of the way.

—————-

PREGAME – If you've been reading along on FCDallas.com, you'd know that Schellas Hyndman has yet to win a match at RFK Stadium since taking over as coach of FCD. Who thinks that trend continues tonight?

—————-
