The final game of the English Premier League's first week takes place this afternoon as Manchester United takes on newly-promoted Newcastle United (3pm, ESPN2).
For Manchester United, today's match signals the club's first step toward trying to regain the league title it lost by a point to Chelsea last year. For Newcastle, today's match signals a return to the Premier League after being relegated in shocking fashion a year ago.
For USA fans, today's match will also mark the first chance to see Mexican striker Javier Hernandez in the Premier League (you must study your enemy, right?).
If you will be watching today's match, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.
Enjoy the action.
It bothers me when they say the unnecessarily long and douchie Barclay’s premier league. Thank God we don’t have to keep saying or hearing “Bank of America Major League Soccer.”
Good win for Man. United.
Why?
odds on him being sent back to jail before Labor Day weekend? Joey the Jailbird.
I love the EPL.
odds on Joey Barton getting sent off in the 2nd half?
It bothers me when some of the US media call the Premiership/Premier League the EPL.
Manchester lead Newcastle 2-0 at the half. Goals by Berbatov and Fetcher.
Meanwhile Jermaine Jones is playing for Schalke in a cup game. Also on ESPN3.com.
They do seem to be in much better shape. At least 1st 10 minutes have shown – http://tvmad.com/channel/sky-sports/
what BenH said…and with that…another Newcastle Brown Ale down the tank! 🙂
Good to have Newcastle back in Premiership.
