Sebastien LeToux and Marko Perovic have carried their respective attacks this season and both continued to deliver as each scored goals in New England's 1-1 tie against Philadelphia at PPL Park on Saturday.

LeToux opened the scoring with a beautifully-constructed passing sequence he capped off for his eighth goal of the season. Perovic netted the equalizer when he sent a long-range free kick at Union goalkeeper Chris Seitz that took a wicked bounce past Seitz to make the score 1-1.

The tie kept the Union from moving ahead of New England in the Eastern Conference standings. Both teams are on 15 points, far out of the MLS playoff picture.

Here are the match highlights:

What did you think of the match? Think either has any hope for the playoffs this season? Is LeToux starting to win you over in the MVP discussion? Wondering if and when Chris Seitz will stop letting in awkward goals?

  1. Shalrie definitely got away with a red card offense in extra time (apparently he thought the jersey exchange was to take place before the whistle). That aside, I can’t get too concerned over the effect it had on the result as at the other hand the Union earlier got away with a handball in the box. Unintentional, but the player had his arms out and deflected a shot on goal with his right one. So both teams had legit penalty calls taken away from them.

  2. yes, it was a terrible no call. le toux is not the kind of player to complain to referees either, but you can see him in the highlight at the end giving the ref the business.

  3. i had never heard that, and in fact, was lamenting the fact that we COULDNT call him up. From what i’ve seen, i like his game alot and i think he could be a positive for the US B team, when we field one.

  4. It should be noted their was a missed penalty in the 92 minute (I believe) where Le Toux was pulled by the shirt in the box.

  5. Brad Guzan had it bad in his first season with Chivas USA. Let’s hope history repeats itself with Seitz. Nowak and Co. have put a ton of responsibility on the guy’s shoulders, but they have nothing but the utmost confidence in him. I hope he makes all the “Knighton Now” folks eat their words in the upcoming matches.

And I’m thrilled with the additions of Coudet, Mapp, and Noone to deepen the U’s midfield with some quality talent. All that’s needed are a couple dependable defenders to provide some depth in the back line and we’ll be good to go for a playoff run.

  6. Was at my first Union game yesterday. Great stadium and great atmosphere. The Sons of Ben take up about 25% of the stadium and make life miserable for the opposing team. Could you hear the chants on TV everytime there was a goal kick or free kick for the Revs?

  7. Wicked bounce on the Revs goal! Tough year for Seitz. Kid is talented, but he has made some bad mistakes and caught some bad luck. Hopefully he matures and fights through it. Could be a good keeper.

  8. Actually, Le Toux is eligible to play for the USA and stated back in 2008 that he would be fully willing to do so. He’s 26, he’s doing very well in the MLS and there’s always room for an player like that on the team. I’m not expecting anything but it wouldn’t be a bad call up. I’m shocked this conversation hasn’t come up before.

  9. I sure hope France calls LeToux up.

kidding of course, but surely his local hometown paper might do a feel good story about how he a Frenchman is gaining MADDD respect in MLS despite our league being comparable to Denmark or Norway.
