  1. We would love him on the Phila. Union. It would be one decent tattooed player replacing another crappy tattooed player (Califf sucks!!!!!!!!)

  2. Quakes take 4 out of 6 pts in the Classico! another good finish by Wondo (terrible error by by LA D) and a 15 min appearance by Geovanni. Pretty good day out in NorCal!

  3. Did anyone see the chance Vela missed

he chipped the ball above 3 players then missed it, would have been goal of the season for months

  4. On the bench…it never hurts to have depth…

Seriously though, Jones still has yet to be capped. I’ll factor him into the equation once he actually plays a game in a USMNT jersey.

Edu is too similar to MB. Definitely a solid backup or an option if we need to play ultra defensively.

The same question could be asked about where we are going to fit Torres, Kljestan, Clark, and Feilhaber.

I guess my point is that I’d like to see how the two would perform together. It could be a disaster, who knows…why not give them the chance though?

  5. Frank Simek doesn’t play in Ligue 1, he plays in League 1. I don’t know if that was a typo, but they’re in completely different countries. 🙂

  6. Holden is class. I’m watching the reply of the Bolton game, even with West Ham running the first half, he showed something every time he had the ball. Also, he made smart plays on defense; once the midfield learns about one another, he could have a huge year.

  7. Chelsea have played arguably the two weakest teams outside of Blackpool. We’ll see if they can keep it up against a high quality opponent.

Its a fantastic start nonetheless and they have inflated their goal difference to an obscene level for this early in the season. I really wish Liverpool had been able to start the season similar instead of having to go up against Arsenal and Man City immediately….

On Holden, from what I saw he played very well in the deep lying playmaking role and offered a range of passing that few of our guys outside of Torres offer. I really hope Bradley, or whoever comes in to replace him, considers playing him centrally with MB. Whoever made the earlier invisible comment can’t have been watching the match…

  8. I think at this point Spector needs to go somewhere, even if it is the Championship and remake himself as a central defender. He just doesn’t have the pace to be a consistent attacking threat from the right back position, or cope with tricky wingers.

  9. Does anyone think it’s suspect that Mac Kandji didn’t travel to Toronto because of “paperwork issues”? I mean, the guy’s been in the league for a long time. Why would he have paperwork issues?

  10. A LOT! LOL

Sorry for jumping to conclusions about Valentin man, so Akron huh? What division do they play in again? I’m going to have to keep an eye out for both Akron and Valentin when he’s with the U-20’s

  11. When teams make commitments to players they (unlike us sometimes) take a look at the whole pedigree of what a player has been able to do, his age, and what they think they player will be able to do while on their payroll.

For this and other reasons, Spector has a leg up on the previously mentioned youngsters and I’m sure Spec has many suitors. However, I’m pretty sure he’s making a large wage right now (not to be confused with any sort of transfer fee WHU would want), and teams are hesitant to take that on until he’s out of contract with the Hammers at the end of the season.
I agree with Jayrig5 that he probably needs a new situation. Grant doesn’t seem to see him as highly as Pardew, Curbishly, Zola, etc… not to mention it’s hard for anyone to look real good with that current back line.

  12. To be fair, he was a very talented player last year who just had trouble finishing. If he can finally translate all that good play into goals, then I have renewed hope for Jozy.

  13. Has DeMerit found a club? Surely any Championship type team will want him. He was decent at Watford and decent at the WC but he has experience and that counts.

  14. The Swedish striker Johan Elmander who has scored 7 goals in the last 2 seasons with Bolton scored a brace today. Unbelievable. Basically he’s the 3rd best striker Sweden has behind Ibrahimovic and Berg (he played for Groningen during MB’s time at Herevereen. Just weird I guess. Suddenly he has his scoring boats on ala Zamora

  15. I don’t get your question spectors not getting minutes either, plus the point many people miss when debating lthese types of arguments is that if Alston or Franklin had an EU passport they could easily be in the same position as spector.

  16. so where could Spector go? He’s 24 and average defender in the PL at best but with 7years of experience. Surely a loan or a transfer to another low ranked team. I’d hate for him to ride pine. he only played so bad last season due to him playing out of position.

  17. How many of those guys would be getting EPL minutes right now? Spector just needs a different situation, the defense sucks without him on the field at West Ham, he may get a shot soon. Or, if Grant just doesn’t like him, he’ll go somewhere where he will play. He just signed an extension awhile ago, before last year maybe?

  18. You did not just bring in Julian Valentin into the USMNT RB talk?

That guy doesn’t even belong in the C list for players that are probable for the January camp, AS BACK UPS!

Sean Franklin, Kevin Alston, Daniel WIlliams from SC Freiburg, hell Michael Orozco of the Philladelphia Union who I believe is actually a CB

Dude There’s so many people ahead of that guy, freaking AJ De La Garza is a better choice! Frank Simek in the ligue 1!

  19. I may get some heat for this, I think Bob’s record is decent but he shot himself in the foot by making silly mistakes in the World Cup after making silly mistakes in 2007 following a great come from behind win over Mexico in the final of the 07 Gold Cup in Chicago, I believe it was our 1st come from behind, to qualify for the 09 Confeds, he followed that up with a horrible and embarrasing Copa America that CONMEBOL won’t invite us and instead invited Japan, I was hoping Japan wouldn’t be able to go since due to a rule they need to send a U-23 team + senior players.

Then after the 2009 run in which he began making a ton of mistakes like Beasley, Sacha, Clark etc not starting Jozy & Davies from the get go, not playing Torres vs Brazil when we needed possesion, he let the Confeds Cup slip away then did the same with an early lead at Azteca!

I hope he gets hired ANYWHERE! DC United could use him?
