  1. ummmm 28 years old is when some ppl reach their prime form. Why is Donovan not worth the 15 million price tag?? JUst cuz he is american?? Ive seen players accomplish way less and are less talented than Donovan and are bought for way over $15 million

  2. Adu in DC under Bob Bradley. Mourinho shocks world and takes US national team job. Hey, when you have the chance to work with Jonathan Bornstein several times a years, you gotta do it

  3. And if Bradley was coach when they won Gold Cup, blanked Spain to reach Confeds cup final and topped their WC group – i.e. experienced their longest extended run of success in meaningful competitions – you were probably drunk then too.

  4. Klose off the post! is he actually going to see the field this year?

on the other end a beautiful diving header from Raul forces a great diving save

  5. start of 2nd half in German Super Cup. still no Jermaine Jones.

Farfan & Kluge have gone the distance in the central midfield for Schalke

weird to see Raul in these colors.

  6. EJ scored.

5goals in 16 matches for Greece. And 2 goals in Fulham’s pre-season. 1 against a really low ranked team and now just 1 against a less than full strength Werder Bremen but surely this can’t hurt his chances. Even if Fulham loan him, hopefully he is in the right place, mentally now, to score goals in England.

and no worries about Dempsey. Gera has played better yes but Dempsey is a starter and Hughes knows that. Probably they have either Gera or Dempsey to support Zamora so that both guys start each match.

  7. Well, they did pursue Joe Cole, but he was on a free. I think Wenger and the growing American contingent in their front office would consider Landon if the price wasn’t so steep.

  8. Conor Doyle, that 18-year old who signed for Derby County yesterday, actually made the bench today. Must be pretty cool for a kid who was about a month away from going to Creighton Univ.

  9. Yeah great for Adu, not for the poor team that gets him…. What is the big deal on riding the pine and earning your spot? He has 3 years to earn first team, but instead he is cocky and refuses to admit that he has things he needs to work on before getting first team privileges. I used to feel bad for him, but not all these Euro coaches can be wrong about him.

  10. its on bs boards as well. apparently the source who knew about ljundberg to chi town is the same source here.. who knows. i hope it works out but i really dont see muc room for freddy on LA

  11. Jon-Paul Pittman comes off the bench and scores Wycombe’s second goal. Came on in the 77th and scored in the 84th. Apparently the goal was a stunning solo effort a “thing of beauty” according to BBC Final Score.

  12. only rumors i’ve heard about Adu have come from the SBI comments section but i think this would be great for Adu. he needs to come back to MLS and he can learn from someone who was in a similar situation, donovan. donovan and arena can whip him into shape.

  13. While I agree there some good stuff on the week-end, the following sentence should be forever scrubbed:

“Several quality matches today. There is MLS action featuring DC and New England…”

Yeah, the two worst teams in the league. Hoorah!

  14. Yet again an important American soccer event left off the list. PDL championship game is live on FSC at 7pm EST 4pm PST. Thunder Bay Chill take on the Portland Timbers U23 at PGE Park. The Timbers are going for a perfect season and are currently 19-0-0 including the playoffs. Watch the Timbers goalie Gleeson. If New Zealand makes it back to the World Cup in the next 16 years or so he will be their starter and he will be good. The third place game is also streaming on USLLive.com @ 1pm EST/4pm PST.

  15. He needs to come home and get a fresh start, he’s been loaned out and benched for too long in Europe. So it could be a good move for him, but I don’t think he’s a guaranteed starter. LA have some very good players.

  16. hmm freddy adu to the gals… anyone think thats a good move for him? its a rumor floating around. i think its a solid move, but if he fails here then hes done

  17. @Sean, Yeah i’ve heard the same about Califf. He looked decent for me but strange enough he was doing quite well for Denmark back in 2007 and 2008. Don’t know what happened to send him back to MLS.

  18. Off topic but since the other dude was, I’m curious, who do you guys think has the best special forces on the planet?

British. They have SAS and SBS and more or less wrote the book on elite forces.

    Israelis. Pretty obvious.

Australians and New Zealanders. I heard great things about them from Vietnam to Afghanistan.

    Norway. Experts in arctic warfare.

Poland. Suprisingly but yeah they have quality commandos.

    who do you think?

  19. St Etienne is in Ligue 1. Not to mention that they have won 10 league titles (the most of any team), and two or three seasons ago they finished 5th and were in europe. should be a good move for our skipper

  20. I have a dream of a 2014 WC where the US is grouped with Peru, Egypt and Turkey and tops the group. And in the round of 16 match we face Holland we win on a late goal from Altidore. And we get to the quarters where we face Russia and we defeat them on our way to the semi’s where we lose to Spain.

Our top scorer will be a lad named Altidore with 4 goals.

    am i drunk?

  21. I know this is about matches this weekend but any news on Goodson? I read on Bigsoccer he turned down Bundesliga team Kaiserlusten because they couldn’t guarantee him a remote chance of starting. So is it true that he will sign with Odense in the Danish league?

Also Luis Robles signed with Karlsruher SC in the Bundesliga. Most likely he’s the 2nd GK but should fight for the no1 spot. He could be our 3rd GK for 2014.

Oh also why did Danny Califf leave Denmark? Surely Philly can’t be paying him more and is Parkhurst still in Denmark cause I never hear about him.

  22. This is off topic but I was wondering, does anyone know a site that lists some of McBride’s best goals for Fulham? I have seen videos on youtube of them and they just show the goals and not bother identifying the opponent or date of the match. I was curious cause I wanted to know what everyone’s favorite McBride goal?

There was 1 that he scored with a power header against Everton in the battle to escape relegation in 07-08.

He had a goal where the ball bounced passed the defender and he just stroke his leg in the air and popped the ball past the keeper. All this while not even looking at the goal.

He had several more. The really cool thing I like is that talking with some Brits, they know his name and respect him and really rated him as a player.

  23. If you wanna pay his $15 million transfer fee then you can make it happen. If not we may have to settle with another loan mid season..

  24. It’s amazing how Boca went from a very good defender in MLS to decent for a relegation club like Fulham and than benched for last half of his last season and than went to start for Rennes, a quality team that’s always playing in Europe and now he’s playing for a lower table club, but positive is he’s sure to start this season in every match.
