CONCACAF Champions League rewind: Crew falls, Sounders win and more

 CCLLogo

The Columbus Crew missed its chance to clinch a place in the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals on Wednesday night, suffering a 2-1 loss to Guatemalan side CD Municipal.

Former Los Angeles Galaxy forward Guillermo "Pando" Ramirez scored both goals on a rain-soaked night to help Municipal move to within a point of the Crew for a berth in the Champions League quarterfinals with a match remaining.

The Seattle Sounders were already eliminated from quarterfinal consideration before Wednesday night, but managed their first win in the competition with a 2-0 victory against Honduran side Marathon in Seattle. Michael Fucito scored both goals for the Sounders.

In other Champions League action, the Puerto Rico Islanders rallied to register a last-minute 3-2 victory against Mexican side Toluca in Puerto Rico. The victory moved the Islanders into first place in Group D. Meanwhile, Santos Laguna delivered a 5-1 thrashing of Joe Public.
