Toronto FC begins the post-Mo Johnston era tonight as it faces Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium in a key CONCACAF Champions League clash (10pm, Fox Soccer Channel).

Both teams enter tonight's match 1-1 after losing their last matches. With all four teams in their group holding 1-1 records, a win tonight would be a vital step toward qualifying for the knockout rounds.

Toronto FC interim head coach Nick Dasovic leads out a TFC squad that will be looking to try and replicate the group-opening magic it showed against Cruz Azul, while RSL will be trying to erase the memories of its shocking 5-4 loss to Cruz Azul.

If you will be watching tonight's match, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.

Enjoy the action.

  1. I’m always a bit surprised at all of the Movsisyan love on this forum….I watched him the whole time he was with RSL….heck of a nice guy and a decent player however, nothing to write home about…

  2. RSL sucked for the first three years of the existence and Jason Kries took about a year to shape his team. My one regret is that Yura Movsisyan went to europe. Wish Findley would have gone their instead. He’d fit in nicely over in the Luxumburgian first division (no offense to the Schlek bro’s). To bad logos don’t matter in the actual game. TFC always beats RSL in that category.

  3. Toronto just looked dispirited. Outside of a few players, they quit after the equalizer. The pursuit, pressure they showed early just evaporated.

RSL better save some juice for their upcoming four games in two weeks.

  4. Geez, DeRo’s starting to play on his own again, which has been a trend in the last few matches. He seems to reach a point of frustration with the players around him to the point where he starts trying to do everything on his own. This is brutal.

  5. Does Will Johnson get call-ups for the Canadian national team? Just wondering cuz he looks really good tonight and I think he should be a part of canada’s national team setup.

  6. He took quite a while to put pen to paper so I’m sure his sentiments are similar. He, JDG, and Cann should jump to Vancouver next season, at least they’d be playing for a club going in the right direction.

  7. Well when MoJo signs him for the outrageous salary he’s getting paid, they might as well use him and hope for the best cuz they really don’t have anyone else right now. I suppose they could have started Doneil Henry and given the youngster a run out (which in my opinion is what Dasovic should have done).

MoJo and Preki R.I.P. <– rot in pHell (the p is silent)

  8. I feel bad for DeRo. He has always been one of my favorite players in mls. From time to time I still watch that mls goal of the year when he played for San Jose that he bent around the wall on a free kick. It must suck to be winding down your pretty great mls career on such a crappy team.

  9. Well this one is over. Anyone have any idea what Mista did for that red?

Since the penalty, TFC looks completely deflated and disinterested in this one. Johnson should have made it 4-1 with that nifty give-go at the top of the box had the return pass been quality.

At least Nic Lindsay is getting a run out. Sad day for TFC…

  10. I couldn’t tell what Mista did. I thought they just pushed each other off ball.

If that’s the case, it’s a ridiculous red card. But I’m so used to red cards in MLS games… almost every game I watch.

  11. Mista red-carded for off-the-ball shenanigans to Beckerman. No idea if it was warranted for Mista’s reaction suggests it was. He just walked off.

  12. Seriously. So anti-climatic most times. I’m a neutral fan, but a USA supporter. Findley is just too effing predictable when he has the ball, and anti-climatic 90% of the time with the ball

  13. We must be watching different broadcasts. Both of the fsc commentators are “house” commentators and quite American lol. And my comments are taking into consideration both of last night’s CCL televised games on fsc; also equally horrific. Regardless of who is putting this on, I could care less about that, isn’t it time that the American soccer fan deserves more? I’ve been following MLS since 1997 and broadcasts haven’t improved that much since then. Heck! I remember when from like 2003-2005 MLS’ website offered their online coverage for free! And it was better than their new paid for service is most times.

  14. O’Brian White may be the worst player to have ever won the Mac Hermann award. Misses two tap ins. He is slower than gravy and moves like a 49 year old out there.

And that 2nd Salt Lake goal was offside. I think the whole team was offside.

  15. To laugh at TFC right now is like laughing at a down syndrome child who just dropped their ice cream. Club’s broken, running on interim management and coaching (god willing Dasovic turns out to be a good coach for the health of Canadian footy), with overpaid crappy players (aside from DeRo, JDG, and Cann).

  16. Hey to be fair when they finally showed the play from the lines mans point of view, RSL’s players were offsides. I thought it was botched coverage as well at first.

  17. This whole feed is via CONCACAF. As far as I know FSC doesn’t have anything to do with this aside from maybe doing the camera work? Commentator is from CONCACAF (funny… he has a British accent, yet he commentates for CONCACAF) and the halftime interview with Beckerman was done by that one girl from the CONCACAF vids using a CONCACAF mic.

    CONCACAF!

  18. Absolutely terrible half by TFC. RSL isn’t necessarily playing well, TFC is just playing so piss poor that a PDL club would look good out there.

Can’t believe how pissed I am at this game. Getting an early gift and then playing that poorly in their own box to give up two set pieces. Preki really feked up this club.

  19. I canNOT wait until MLS has a more professional, dedicated broadcast option than fsc. I appreciate what fsc provides for the american soccer fan, but I am super sick of shoddy broadcast quality: poorly timed replays, awkward or awful announcers, low quality feeds. Ugh. The new of professional soccer in America has arrived and ever-evolving. It’s time televesion broadcasts caught up.

  20. Saborio should have been booked for the attempted clearance block. Just gonna throw it out there, but TFC aren’t getting any real calls going their way, the missed handball in the box, the missed yellow for Saborio. What’s the deal?

  21. Holy mackerel, how was that handball in the box missed???? I mean that was obvious, total sloppiness by the defender, basically dribbles it forward with his bicep, and it isn’t caught??!

Saric is absolutely useless defending. Has no marking ability at all, totally pitiful. How Beckerman was allowed to get that open is simply inexcusable.
