Omar Cummings' form isn't exclusive to when he wears the Colorado Rapids uniform.

Cummings, who has scored three goals in his last two Major League Soccer games for the Rapids, scored Jamaica's goal in the Reggae Boyz' 2-1 loss to Peru in a friendly on Tuesday.

Cummings, the reigning MLS Player of the Week, buried a strike from outside of the penalty area to negate an early own-goal and level the score in the 18th minute. Jose Carlos Fernandez scored the winner for Peru in the 84th minute.

Here are highlights of the match and more notes from around the league:

SEGARES' PUNISHMENT GROWS

Gonzalo Segares received a more strict punishment than usual for his red card against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday.

Instead of the customary one-game suspension and $250 fine levied for straight red cards, Segares received a double dose. The Chicago Fire fullback is suspended for two matches and fined $500 for his elbow to the head of Galaxy defender Leonardo.

Segares will miss Wednesday night's match against Toronto FC and Saturday's tilt at the Philadelphia Union.

RSL'S JOHNSON ASSISTS CANADA WINNER

Will Johnson's corner kick in the 42nd minute found Kevin McKenna for the eventual game-winning goal in Canada's 2-1 victory over Honduras in a rain-interrupted friendly in Montreal on Tuesday.

The win marked the end of an eight-match winless streak for Canada, which was without the Toronto FC trio of Dwayne De Rosario, Julian de Guzman and Nana Attakora-Gyan. Manager Stephen Hart did incorporate D.C. United defender Dejan Jakovic into the starting lineup.

BURCH HAS SEASON-ENDING SURGERY

D.C. United left back Marc Burch has had his injury-plagued season officially cut short after undergoing season-ending foot surgery. Burch re-aggravated an injury in his right foot in last Wednesday's U.S. Open Cup semifinal against Columbus. He played in just four games all season.

What did you think of Cummings' goal? Think Segares deserved the heavier punishment? Surprised at Canada's win over Honduras?

  1. Another game for Segares? For what? That was a soft red to begin with. I’m guessing it’s because he hasn’t even been exactly a saint but that punishment seems a bit too harsh.

  2. Maybe an example would help: Peeking at just the right time is what Janet Jackson does at the Super Bowl halftime show, at which moment, the attention of certain segments of the viewing audience happens to peak at just the right time. In related news, scoring at the right time and place is what Rooney did today. Scoring at the wrong time and place is what el Roonerino was disclosed to have done earlier. There, all settled.

  3. how can the league give Segares another game suspension? unless they got to see it from different camera angles then the ones on tv. Becuase from the tv replay it looks as if segaras if just tring to get on the inside of leonardo and he unintentional cuaght him in the back of the head with his arm.
