The 2010 NCAA men's soccer season begins today, with some of the nation's top teams beginning their schedules with action tonight.
The full schedule of soccer action doesn't begin until Friday, when top teams such as Akron, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and UCLA make their debuts. On Thursday, SBI will be running an extensive college soccer preview, with our own rundowns of the top teams and players in the nation, as well as a series of profiles on some of the country's best players. Consider it the start of what should be more extensive coverage of college soccer on SBI.
Stay tuned for SBI's college preview on Thursday. For now, tell us what you'll be looking forward to from the upcoming college season. Which team do you see winning it all? What player are you most looking forward to watching play?

go to hell fubar. i’d like to see how you react when elbowed in your heimlich spot. its pathetic how one sided the coverage was of that match. the BYU chicks were just as guilty, but a mormon had the camera.
yeah, already beat tulsa in tulsa in an exb. match. beat st. louis. about to beat UCSB. yet no love anywhere.
Notre Dame all the way!
As in the same USF team that just lost AT HOME against Florida Gulf Coast (who I had no idea had a soccer team) to open the season…. hmmm i don’t think so.
As much as I hate Akron I think this is their year. Caleb Porter future US MNT Coach?
College soccer is legit. and for the guy who said College soccer is only slightly better then HS, should spend some time on the field with the two groups and say that again.
USF TO TAKE THE COLLEGE CUP!
Go Hoos!!!! The defending National Champs Virginia Cavaliers return the Best Defense In The Nation anchored by Diego “The Wall” Restrepo.
Look for Diego, Will Bates, Brian Ownby, Hunter Jumper, Mike Volk and Greg Monaco on an MLS/Euro Team near you in the very near future!
Oh I was. Let’s just say I “don’t remember” exhibition games very well.
yeah terps! see you there friday! ,
some teams will stream them live from their individual athletics website. i know maryland is streaming home games online for the first time this year. i have no idea about the quality of it, and you do have to pay also. but thats my best advice is go to the website of the team you want to watch and see if they stream it.
Go Zips!!
Ooooh I got it now….u have no idea what ur talking about…phew glad we cleared that up
Maybe u should go read what I wrote again. I have nothing against college soccer and student athletes…just how it’s constructed aka the system and the RELATED fact that it is inherently part of our youth development in this country
Much respect for Maryland and the ACC!
I guess you weren’t on UMD campus in 2008 when USF beat Maryland 2-1 in exhibition.
I’ve got a question. Where can I watch NCAA soccer online? I can’t find any upcoming games on ESPN3 or Foxsoccer.tv, and I tried the NCAA’s own site but their streaming video is just terrible.
1) its def better then high school soccer
2) As far as audience…UConn as well as other programs might outdraw FC Dallas in attendance #’s
It is hard to watch on TV, but going to the games is a lot of fun
USF has a great program… I wish they would come up and play Maryland in College Park so I could see them live.
Wow, people are naive about college soccer. Slightly better than high school? Most of the top teams are loaded with MNT U-20 talent. USF has the captian of the U-23 Trinidad and Tobago NT…and he isn’t a starter.
Please give the Big East some love this year!! USF just
beat Akron 2-1 in preseason. UofL, UConn, St. Johns, USF are all very
dangerous teams.
Pumped about Uconn games and really looking forward to the Big East Tourney…. will be interesting to see how many people it draws to Harrison
College soccer is slightly better than high school soccer, probably have the same audience ,which works for them. Not the greatest thing on earth but it gets those who won’t play professionally money for school. Why not I suppose?
My first paragraph was a sarcastic response to your claim that you can’t support college soccer because of the unrelated fact that youth development in this country is broken.
short shorts ftw.
Huskies, Red Storm and the Zips!
Welcome, then, brother! Make sure to come out to the game on Friday and get your Crew shirt, and then keep coming to the games (although you might have to sign up for it?) — we’re (one of, if not the) the best group of college soccer fans in the nation, so get out and cheer for the Terps with us, it’s a blast.
Maryland is one of the most talented squads in the country this year, and we’re returning a bunch of talent on top of a stellar recruiting class. Sasho Cirovski’s teams only get better with age, so I’m real excited for the on-field product this year. With some luck, they’re headed for the top.
Very curious to see how Akron, Duke, and Louisville perform this weekend… what an opening lineup for the season.
Exactly my point…as long as mls and mens soccer rely on college soccer to produce our top talent than as a soccer nation we are in trouble. I’m really not sure what the point is that ur making but it sounds like ur taking my comment out of context and making it sound like I don’t think people should go to college which is so far from the truth
+1. Ole Ole Ole Gauchos! Gauchos!
Yeh – put the chick that pulls hair on the boy’s team. HA!
yea same with the SEC. all we have is a men’s club team and it’s kind of embarrassing that our girls can actually play competitively and we can’t
What is the “system” that you believe will improve soccer development in this country?
Why is our system poor?
It’s my first semester on campus at Maryland…go Terps!
Until the USSF sorts out its youth programs, college soccer is the best option for most American players. Thanks NCAA, indeed.
Well put, jonk.
I guess you mean the girls?
One day the Big 12 will wake up and add a D1 men’s program. Until then, I’ll watch the ACC.
Until the NCAA sorts out its soccer operations, Collegiate soccer will continue to hurt the Men’s game in the USA. Thanks NCAA!
UCSB won’t even make it past this week without being defeated
UCSB to take the College Cup at home!
You’re right. Not supporting college athletes will definitely accelerate the growth of MLS academies.
Have you ever seen those NCAA commercials featuring student-athletes that say something along the lines of “Most of us will be turning pro in something other than sports”? There will always be a place for college soccer in this country, even as youth development and academies get stronger. Most of these players won’t be professional prospects, but for the time being the cream of the college crop are relevant to MLS and US Soccer.
the University of New Mexico Lobos cannot be stopped!!!!
Go Creighton!!
Good luck to all the teams but I can’t really support the college system which is the status quo of our poor development system in our country
University of Texas ready to take NCAA title this year …
+1
Is that seriously the logo for NCAA soccer? It looks like 1980s clip art.
Dougie Alison’s FURMAN
Watch out for the Lobos this year. 17 returning letter winners – could be a decent side this year!
