The Bolton-Arsenal tilt is just one of many featuring Americans today. Tim Howard's Everton takes on Manchester United today, while Clint Dempsey's Fulham goes up against Marcus Hahnemann's Wolverhampton.

In MLS play, a handful of quality match-ups will make for some intense action, leading with tonight's Los Angeles-Columbus clash.

  1. DCU-1, TFC-0. No, that’s not a misprint. Julius James with the score in the 80th minute. Playoffs, here we come…oh wait….um…I guess not.

  2. Barcelona is going to miss Rafael Marquez more than they ever thought! They should have kept him, Henry and Ibra one more year for personality and leadership. This team to me seemed rudderless. Yes I know Alves and especially Puyol were missing but still.

    My two pesetas!!!

  3. If the greatest right back ever was set out one v. one against Ryan Giggs on the wing, I would imagine that giggs would get a penalty against that right back. Spector was left high and dry for almost the entire game against Man Utd.

  4. Depth? Well, US depth is a mile wide but only inches deep. Good players but no great ones. None of them are yet the equal of Reyna and JOB.

  5. let him next to players who can cover more ground (bradley and edu) and he could function well in a xabi alonso role (underline role, i’m not saying he’s xabi alonso by any stretch of the imagination) but he does have good positional sense which can overcome his lack of outright athleticism

  6. Watching players play against quality sides like Arsenal lets you know where they stand. The dimensions Holden lacks are strength and top level athleticism. We see those qualities (along with excellent skill) only in the best players at the top clubs. He has decent quickness, but is not explosive. He has a good engine and work rate. He gets rid of the ball quickly, and usually makes the right decision. His touch and passing are very good. I’m still not sure where he is best utilized with the USMNT, but is clearly a player that continues to develop. Bradley will figure it out in the next year or two.

  7. Great game by Fulham today, lucky to win with 3 penalties not given and f***in thugs Wolves breaking Zamora’s leg and getting 7 yellows and a red

  8. EJ’s contract with Fulham ends next summer. So good appearances even for a few mins will add value to him and maybe he snags a club in Holland or a return to Greece.

I remember when there were reports of him leaving for Reading or Derby in 07 and he signed with Fulham in 08. Had hopes of him scoring and being the next McBride.

  9. comcast in jersey comes close…all those channels except FSC+ are included in a package that’s $7 per month….i am still hoping that comcast will eventually add FSC+ and not charge a million $ for it…..

  10. Clark will have to battle hard to start for Frankfurt. But more than likely his time with the NT will be done after the Gold Cup.

we’ll have Bradley, Edu, Torres, Holden, Jones, Feilhaber, Kljestan, Donovan, Dempsey all battling for a place in the midfield not to mention the up and upcoming youngers. 2014 we are gonna have some serious DEPTH. We definitely need to go to 4-5-1

  11. EJ came in for Dempsey around 82′. Very nice one-two with Etuhu at the top of the box. EJ got fouled when cutting for the return pass, defender picked up a second yellow. Dembele hit the free kick straight through the wall and into the net.

  12. I was thinking the same thing when I saw it. I had to switch after the score went to 3-1. Just because Arsenal is regularly in the top four doesn’t mean that the ref should call the game in their favor.

  13. Seriously, I think people are not seeing the extent to which he’s left hanging out to dry.

Though he’s also had a run of not-so-fresh form.

  14. stu attwell is either getting a cut from this game or he needs to grow a pair and make some calls against the home side. disgraceful officiating.

  15. The Arsenal-Bolton official is just straight up ridiculous right now.

Screws Bolton, and then gives Cahill the softest straight red I think I’ve ever seen. I don’t even think he made contact.

And how did he miss the free kick for Lee? Song blasted him in the leg, and threw him to the ground.

  16. Kev, I think you are smokin something. Spector was horrific against Man U, the Hammers signed a new right back and even Flaubert not starting for the Hammers today. Spector is done. He isn’t going to make the bench unless there are major injuries. He needs to get out, go to the Championship, get playing time and his confidence back. There is no place for him at West Ham.
