The Super Clasico kicks off as the Chivas USA host their cross hall rivals the Los Angeles Galaxy.

This match has major implications for the playoffs as the Galaxy find themselves in second in the league table to Real Salt Lake. The Galaxy will need a win tonight to regain their spot at the top of the table. Chivas USA's dreams of the playoffs are all but over, but the Rojiblancos will look to avoid being eliminated by their hated rival.

I will be providing commentary throughout the match so please feel free to follow along here. As always, feel free to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

FINAL – Timely finishing by LA proved too much for the Rojiblancos to handle. Edson Buddle and David Beckham put in a pair of fantastic goals that gave LA another victory over their rivals. The win will put the Galaxy back in the pole position for the Supporters Shield.

Donovan takes the trophy to the "LAX" a combined Supporters Group of the Riot Squad and Angel City Brigade. Great Salute to the fans.

FINAL – There is the final whistle, The Galaxy will once again take home the Doug Hamilton Trophy — named for the late LA Galaxy official — with a 2-1 victory over their arch rivals, Chivas USA.

93rd Minute – Horrible connection problems in the Press box have put my computer out of comission for a few minutes. The Rojiblancos are failing to challenge Ricketts net and the final whistle should blow any moment now.

84th Minute – Galaxy sub: Cazumba comes in for Birchall.

83rd Minute – The band at the Chivas USA match is playing "Baby" by Justin Bieber. A lot of cheers from the crowd. Chivas USA earns a corner kick as they push to equalize.

79th Minute – Horribly reckless tackle (from behind) by Espionza, but a completely careless moment by Lewis to stomp on the Mexican winger. The SuperClasico maintains its fire in this match.

78th Minute – A straight red for Lewis after stomping on Espionza who also picks up a yellow card after a little discussion with Donovan and Dunivant.

68th Minute – Back to the Gordon goal once more, the forward was at least a few yards offside on that play but a bad no call leads to the goal.

66th Minute – The gap in FK ability from Juninho and Beckham is a tad wide. The Brazilian skys it into the 20th row. Beckham had just come off for Eddie Lewis.

64th Minute – Gordon with a nice header that Ricketts nearly saved and then played into the goal. On the other end the Galaxy earn another free kick on another Borja foul.

63rd Minute – CHIVAS USA GOAL!! ALAN GORDON!

57th Minute – Chivas USA trying desperately to push forward. They earn a corner, but Ricketts comes up with the ball. Another failed attempt for Vasquez's men.

51st Minute – Interesting subplot. A Real Salt Lake affiliated team from Arizona is taking in the game. No word about who they're cheering for.

48th Minute – Two Chivas USA Subs at the half: Sueno Flores for Zemanski and Rodolofo Espinoza for Maldonado.

47th Minute – Gordon forces Ricketts to make a great save, but the forward is seriously injured. He's limping off the field, but no replacement is lined up yet.

HALFTIME – The whistle blows on a VERY entertaining first half. The Galaxy head into the locker room up 2-0 after a goal by their version of the "Killer B's" Beckham and Buddle. Chivas will need to do a better job of controlling possession and put away their chances if they are going to get back in the match. 45th Minute – One minute of stoppage time.

44th Minute – The goal is Beckham's first MLS goal since last September against Toronto FC. His last free kick goal came in a friendly with Barcelona last August.

42nd Minute – Right after the goal, Chvias tried to strike back, but Ricketts came up with the big save. They are going to need to strike early or its another big Chivas defeat.

40th Minute – Beckham with a pretty standard goal from 22 yards out. Borja made the big mistake right there and Beckham punished him. It's the Englishman's first goal of the season and surely the nail in the coffin for Chivas.

39th Minute – GOAL!!! DAVID BECKHAM!!

38th Minute – Borja picks up a yellow card after clutching on Buddle. VERY dangerous spot for a free kick.

31st Minute – Truly been everything that you would expect from a rivalry so far. A lot of chances. Some crushing tackles. A very entertaining match.

28th Minute – Stephens has been on the bench for the past few games and has been an immediate contributor tonight. Perhaps the midfielder should have been playing in the NY match. Chivas USA earn a dangerous free kick, but the effort is cleared.

25th Minute – Juninho with a fantastic strip off a Chivas USA midfielder. He plays the ball to Michael Stephens who sends a great ball into Buddle on the right side. Buddle easily finishes. How's this for a little stat: The Galaxy are 9-0-1 when Buddle scores.

24th Minute – GALAXY GOAL!! EDSON BUDDLE!

21st Minute – LA earns a corner, but Thornton is able to punch away. LA Gets the rebound, but Thornton holds on.

18th Minute – A fairly nice crowd on hand tonight. It is a very nice atmosphere with the sounds of four supporters groups all drumming at the same time.

17th Minute – Both teams have hit the cross bar twice and gone wide as well. Former LA Galaxy forward Alan Gordon may of had the best chance already in the 11th minute that led to chants of "LA Reject" from the "traveling" Galaxy fans.

15th Minute – Miserable traffic has been the reason for the delay of this MDC.
