I don’t get why goals like these are always so widely shared. They’re not uncommon, not impressive, and are usually accidental. All they are is from far away.
Funny, we have a commercial playing over here in Korea playing out exactly like how that goal did. One goalkeeper kicks the ball all the way over to the other end of the field, a lucky bounce, and it’s in.
I was going to post a comment that it was more lucky than “must see”, but seeing as that’s the general consensus here already, I’m just going to post that I was going to post that.
ctually that is the 2nd long distance bomb in two years. Here was the 95 yard goal last year with the same teams. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbcpwuYcEyA
That’s not the same keeper is it???
this goes in because of the turf in addition to the poor goalkeeping. on grass you would not get the bounce over the keepers head.
Ouch. Seitz was a monster in college…
Yes, that was a great shot as well.
Was this Seitz in goal?
Certainly not “must-see”. I’d score this as an own goal. Someone post a picture of Clint Dempsey’s “must-see” goal against England.
Thus is dumber than Danny Cepero’s goal. No skill involved.
A keeper on my indoor team had the same type of goal this weekend. Too bad no one was recording it
or he’d be on SBI too.

College Soccer *sigh*
+1 unless Ives is all Rooney’d out
must be a slow news day…
It’s very fluky. This is the equivalent of a home run that is actually a single with three errors, or something like that.
Natural grass cut and plays like a f’in parking lot.
Wescott Field is natural grass.
If the ball had reached the goal without bouncing then it would have been a Must See Goal.
Looked like artificial turf. Terrible goalkeeping but the ball bounces a lot different on natural turf.
My fav is still Michael Parkhurst’s when he was still at NE. It was his first shot, first shot on goal, and first goal ever in MLS play.

DC just submitted a discovery claim for that keeper.

Free John O’Brien!
More like a must-see-goalkeeper-blunder
but seriously…..hardly must see, abysmal goal keeping
cap him!
That is some HORRENDOUS goalkeeping – yikes.
Nothing more than a misplay by the keeper. Not nearly as good as Beckham’s from years ago (which was intended as a shot).
He can follow in the legendary footsteps of Danny Cepero!
-or-
Call him up, Bob!!
best goal I’ve seen today, at least
Agreed, pretty lame. Just a stupid goal keeper and a fortuitous bounce.
haha good one!
lame

Ives, I think that happened last year
Agreed–not a great goal. A ball played over the top that the goalkeeper completely misses on.
Can’t be a great goal if it’s unintentional, in my opinion.
When did that goal happen, 1965?
stupid
why is this a must-see? the idiot keeper gifted him it
