Soccer Saturday: Your Running Commentary

Gareth Bale 1 (ISIPhotos.com)

There may not be a more in-form player in the world than Gareth Bale, and Saturday against Everton will be his next chance to impress the growing list of big-name clubs interested in acquiring him.

Tim Howard will be out to stop Bale as he looks to add a second shutout after keeping Liverpool off the scoreboard in last week's Merseyside Derby.

Today also marks the final weekend of the MLS regular season and features a Colorado-Real Salt Lake tilt that should be the best MLS match of the weekend.

  1. HAHAHAHAHA RSL comes back to tie in one millisecond. Fantastic. I would usually be a fan of the underdogs, but the biased Rapids commentators brought me over onto Salt Lake’s side.

  2. San Jose down to the Wizards 1-0 on a Diop goal. Colorado up 1-0 against RSL on a Cummings goal. Sooo if it stays…LA gets the Shield, my Metro will play San Jose, and the Crew will face the Sounders in the East.
    Ooooh this is fun

  3. Good game Houston, I can not say I am to upset about the result. Frankly I am kind of hoping we end up playing in the Eastern bracket. Although the ref was very poor today, I am upset about that.

  4. They may have been disheartened by the early bad calls, but if anything bad calls would just piss me off and make me play harder.
It is not hot today so I just think they are not getting in the flow today. Like an off day. Perhaps looking towards the playoffs instead of focusing on this game which holds only slight value to them.

  5. Robertson staidum is always weird. It sometimes plays fast, sometimes slow, sometimes bouncy and what not. It depends a lot on what the University of Houston’s staff and football team has done to the field. We cannot wait for our stadium in 2011/2012.

  6. Question for Houston fans. Is your field always this bouncy? I am watching the game and as I see players dribble the ball in a normal fashion it is just bouncing up and down way more than it should be. Looks hard to control

  7. Houston 2 – Seattle 1. Nice cross and finish by Houston, Seattle looks disinterested do not know if it is because of the poor reffing or the heat.
