Three underdogs and one major title favorite.
That's the best way to describe the remaining MLS playoff field, the four Western Conference teams still alive for an MLS Cup championship.
San Jose and FC Dallas knocked off more highly-regarded opponents with strong first round displays, while Colorado needed penalty kicks to win a tightly-fought series against Columbus. And Los Angeles? The Galaxy looked every bit like the Supporters Shield winners with an easy series victory against the Seattle Sounders.
Here are the conference final match-ups:
SATURDAY
Eastern Conference Final- Colorado Rapids vs. San Jose Earthquakes
SUNDAY
Western Conference Final– Los Angeles Galaxy vs. FC Dallas
————-
How did these teams do against each other in the regular season? Colorado and San Jose split their series, while Los Angeles won both meetings against Dallas.
Who do you like in the remaining match-ups? Cast your vote after the jump:
What are my picks? I see Los Angeles beating FC Dallas in what should be an exciting and close game, while I see the Earthquakes continuing their surprising run with a win in Colorado.
Who did you vote for? Which MLS Cup Final do you see materializing?

Kovalenko reminds me of Gattuso.
As long as San Jose can avoid a shoot out, they will be ok.
Two ex Fire goalies in the Eastern Conference finals, but no Fire. Chicago’s new ownership is imploding.
I’m honestly much less bothered by the lack of single table than by the lack of logic in that argument
I think it’s funny.
Good point. But let it go, man, let it go… It. Will. Never. Happen.
Vamos = Let’s go.
Vamonos = Let’s leave.
I think you meant the former.
wow. the photo should have a caption along the lines of timmmmmmmmmmmmmay lumlawtimmygahw….
I just watch the game, I don’t really care about how many butts are in the stands. Thats a real stupid reason not to root for these teams. Lemme guess, Seattle fan?
I wish there was a way for both SJ & Colorado to lose, due to their poor attendance. And of course I rooting for the Galaxy over the non-existent FC Dallas fans. Frisco, Shmisco, no excuses.
haha well said. Daniel’s gonna put a beat down on MLS’s very own own Nigel de Jong.
I think that we all know what happened when only 20% of people think dallas is going to win
It’s pretty obvious what is happening in this picture:
They are having a fist fight with invisible people. And it looks like Wondo is losing.
Their clearly doing “The Carlton” from Fresh Prince
Eastern Conference road to the finals is a joke.
Give me a break, essentially, if you look back on it, if you’re in the West your goal should have been to be the last 2 teams from the West in. You are rewarded with an easy road.
Meanwhile, FCD, Real Salt Lake, LA, and Seattle have to battle it out. All those teams are better than the best from the other bracket. Yawn.
Busch looks even more psychotic than usual in that photo
How MLS can consider this OK but single table too confusing for casual American fans is beyond me.
as for the picture.. for a second i thought Bauch was giving the double bird to NY or maybe it was directed west to Chicago!
Jason kreis?
i bet the Don is pissed that the 3 lowest supported teams are in the semi’s! also that he booked Toronto for this year.. should have picked Vegas for the final iv been saying it all year!
Can’t wait for Saturday in Denver!!!
I am hoping for Dallas to win because LA are just not that fun to watch.
At least they are not poor losers. It was great to see them still having fun regardless. rather than booing or throwing a hiss-fit like Bekerman.
Juvenile.
^right on!
*crushes…
I hope he crushed Dema.
wasnt offside ho.
People are under-estimating both Colorado (who is really hot offensively) and Dallas (who are really good at midfield and in goal).
Outside of their keeper, Dallas gave up a ton of good opportunities to RSL, and I do think LA will get them.
CO will pound SJ though (and I am not a rapids fan).
LA vs. SJ final would be sick.
They were probably on a crunchy groove like the group in lot 13.
Both sets of supporters combined MIGHT be able to fill a stadium.
