How about the entry pass from Agudelo to Mix? Threaded the ball to Mix in just the perfect space for him to run onto in between five defenders. Then the smarts to make the run. And of course the ball control by Mix. Just excellent.
Just want to know…can I be excited and impressed by both Dix and Agudelo without (a) annoiting the the next anything, (b) be accused of overemphaiszing a single game, (c) being a Bradley lover, (d) being a Bradley hater, (e) giving up on Altidore, or (f) being any other than excited and impressed by a couple of young players?
Against CONCACAF minnows with the rest of the big boys around to provide service. This was a full nat team from a country that is slightly better than the CONCACAF minnows and we didn’t have the experienced vets to provide service for him. You are comparing apples to oranges. Also EJ has always been about speed (see Robbie Findley) Agudelo is about skill.
This is America people, unless the team is made up of all native americans I don’t think we should complain about where they were born. All of our families came here from elsewhere some of these guys were just a bit later than others. Also Agudelo and Agbossoumonde were developed entirely in the USA and don’t sound as if they were born elsewhere. Najar is almost entirely USA developed as well I believe.
Not to mention Joxy is far from done at Villareal. He is only 20 years old for Christ’s sake and they knew when they bought him he would be a project. Now he is getting a few more minutes for them and scoring a few goals as well. Hardly a fail.
It’s not just his goal-scoring ability. It’s his quality first touch on the move, it’s his maturity in being provider (which we saw for NY this year), and his goal-scoring ability. I think there is real promise here.
And, let’s not take anything away from Diskerud on that goal. It was equally vital to the goal. Plus, Tim Ream had a positive game overall, including some lessons.
Well Holden’s best games have been in the center where he’s making his name in the best league in the world.
We all know Jones should start in the center and in a 4-4-2, that leaves one other. Based purely on form this season, Holden is completely outshining Bradley.
Ceez have you ever juggled a soccer ball before? thats exactly how you start the move, roll the ball back onto your toes to flick it up. Instead of juggling Mix hit it with his laces toward Agudelo.What Mix did was completely intentional.
Are you serious? Mix improvised that. Even if he didn’t mean for it to start like that, he adapted to the situation. Something a few of our more “senior” players can learn. That shows creativity which is something we have been missing for quite some time.
And the goal was a snap shot – no way did he have the time to swing his body around to hit the volley with his left. Any way, I don’t care how he scores – fact of the matter is our 17 year old scored when no one else could.
Also, finishing with the right was the correct choice. Look at where the ball is when he touches it with his thigh: its too close to his body to make a left footed shot anything but awkward in that situation. Any elite striker would’ve finished the same way.
Ceez has clearly never played but reads plenty of “Coaching for Kids”. “…shown more poise” haha.
I know I know Ceez I can’t believe it yesterday when once again Messi moved the ball over to his favored left instead of taking the shot and then burying it in the corner. Last time I checked Arjen Robben seems to favor a foot as well.

I’ll agree it was an impressive goal, and I can’t remember seeing Jozy with a touch like that, but I think this small sample size is just not enough. At least for me.
If he still does stuff like that after 10-20 caps, then I’ll be more inclined to say, “Maybe this kid is the answer.”
We’re excited for the kid, perhaps more than we should be because our strikers rarely show that much poise. We think he can challenge for a starting striker role down the road if he continues to progress, and if he starts getting more minutes for the red bulls.
We’ll stop short of anointing him the next _____. We’re happy for his success but we don’t want to be part of the problem. We’ll keep this year to year, and be realistic. However, we’re not jerks about it like Lalas.
Also: the way he celebrated, and reacted to the goal endeared him to us. Not a selfish celebration, just one filled with humility. He couldn’t believe he scored. Couldn’t be happier for the kid.
Redbull has the best coaches of any academy in the states, just saying, he said something very intelligent. He’s either a very good student of the game or a very well coached Kid. could be both, and that to go along with his talent can be lethal.

A good finish, and great to see from a youngster.
But before everyone starts measuring him for a crown and robe…
…remember that Eddie Johnson scored 7 goals in 6 qualifiers (not one off friendlies) to start his senior national team career.
And most posters require two extra Adderall if EJ ever sees the field, only 5 short years later.
It’s a long road from “scoring a goal” to “permanent national team success.”
