Rodriguez, Pearce to miss second leg against Real Salt Lake

As FC Dallas looks to hang on to a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference Semifinals, they'll have to achieve a result at Rio Tinto without the services of Heath Pearce and Milton Rodriguez.

According to 3rd Degree, neither Pearce or Rodriguez will travel with the team to Salt Lake City. Pearce injured his hamstring prior to last weekend's first leg, and didn't make the 18 in FCD's 2-1 win.

FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake play the second leg on Saturday night at 9 p.m.

What do you think of the injury news for Dallas? Can they overcome the absence of Pearce and Rodriguez?

  1. For FCD, Ferreira + Hartman + (anybody else with a decent number of minutes this season) = tie or better.

FCD advances after a 1-1 draw.

  2. You have to respect Shea’s height and ability in the air but beyond that he’s timid in his attack. Cunningham has individual moments of brilliance but if RSL play him honestly he won’t do much and then he’ll drop off as the game wears on. Oh and you’re wrong about Milton because he links up well with Farierra and others where as Cunningham doesn’t bring that.

  3. This weekend will show why Javi Morales was not an MVP candidate for the MLS. I think that RSL will advance, and will show that Morales is not crucial to our success.

While Morales is a great player, and one of the best players in the MLS, we have the talent to continue to roll, even without him in the line up.

Time for some players to step up and get us into the next round.

Hopefully we will get some Ute fans at the game celebrating a win over TCU, and the party will continue at the RioT.

  4. Yes but Morales is a big part of this team, even still I agree that RSL should be able to fend off FCD while putting up a few goals. FCD is out more key players

No more weak D on Cunningham and he will tire and have to be subbed mid match. Let’s go RSL!

  5. I’m not worried about Rodriguez. I think he has been average but certainly not a player I fear losing. Cunningham / Shea ought to be able to step up. Then you have Avila. I like Luna for the future but hope not to rely on him this game. That would be the only thing that would worry me, but we look okay.

Heath is a big loss as there is, imo, significant drop off. Was hoping to get him back for this leg.

  6. RSL has done fine when Morales has not played this year. Andy Williams steps into the roll. We are lucky to have both Morales and Williams.

The write-up is misleading…Dallas has not traveled to Salt Lake City yet…its only Tuesday and the actual says they won’t travel not that they have.

RSL doesn’t lose at home. I fully expect us to advance Morales or no Morales.

  7. We already knew about Pearce, but it’s still bad. He has been one of our most important players this season. He reportedly hurt himself just running on his own. That should teach us all a lesson about hard work and trying.

Milton has been great, but it will be interesting to see how Cunningham does with the opportunity.

  8. The defense of FC Dallas seems like a revolving door.
I’m more interested in seeing how Real Salt Lake’s attack does without Morales.
