Unbeaten Louisville takes on highly-regarded Akron today in the NCAA Men's College Cup Final in Santa Barbara.
The Cardinals come in having posted a second straight last-minute victory, while the Zips enter having fought back from an early deficit to defeat Michigan in the national semifinal on Friday.
Today's final features several top pro prospects and will pit Louisville head coach Ken Lolla against Caleb Porter, the man who replaced him as Akron head coach.
SBI will be providing commentary throughout today's final so please feel free to follow along here. As always, you are welcome to share your own thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
Enjoy the action (Today's commentary is after the jump):
Can anyone tell me if this field was a little on then narrow side or is that just me?
I’ve certainly never minded the countdown clock and ref stopping it. The timeouts have to go. And I’d give them 6 subs, no re-entry.
Actually, I kinda enjoyed the clock going down and stopping at ref’s discretion.
Congrats to Akron, definitely the most talented team in NCAA. I think Louisville earned some respect, or at least they should have. A lot of people were for some reason picking against them every game this tournament.
Wow … unbelievable sequence at the end there. Louisville HAS to put one of those in.
Louisville has had some real chances here at the end. exciting finish
lol nevermind
akron — finally! well deserved goal
haha, my fiancee lives in Sanford. Even smaller world
This is actually a good game. Not filled with all the silly turnovers of most college games. Both teams are playing well.
Still … there are things about the college game that are just weird: The clock that counts down, the substitutions, the TV timeouts … WTF?
And, Go Louisville!
