With Christmas in the rearview mirror, and a day without live soccer behind us, soccer fans hungry for some on-field action will get their gifts today as Boxing Day clashes make up today's light schedule.
Bad weather has already led to cancellations of two matches (Blackpool-Liverpool and Everton-Birmingham City), but there is still action to watch throughout the day. Clint Dempsey and Fulham kick things off this morning against West Ham, while Manchester United faces Sunderland.
If you will be watching today's action, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.

I am happy Pires will not be coming to MLS
After today I could see Lichaj starting next summer. Real Deal came to mind.
Agreed with post above about Pires. He’s done. Easily the slowest/weakest player.
I thought this since his US debut, and he’s only gone about convincing me all the more with every watching, he’s already one of our best players. It would be shocking if he’s not starting.
What impresses me more than anything about Lichaj is his confidence. I noticed it when he played with the USMNT, and I noticed it today. Barring major injury, I believe he will be our starting RB by the time the ’14 WC arrives.
I am happy Pires didn’t come to the MLS he was worthless for Villa today and he would have been on the ground and complaining more than Karl Fredrik Ljungberg did the last two years.
Fine game from Lichaj. He ruled Bale in the first half.
Damn now I’m mad at myself for not ding it early? Sorry guys I’m not used to the Ives style of commenting/posting/twitter jinxing technique lol
I’m a big Lichaj fan. I’m glad to see that he played well. However… COYS.
Well…Spurs take that. Too bad–Villa looked great in the second half.
Awesome game for Eric Lichaj, though. Wow. He was thrown into the deep end and he more than delivered.
Lichaj had a great match on both ends. Wish he would have put the ball in the back of the net though.
I agree. Just ironic/ typical that once anyone denounces a tactic, it eventually works. Haha.
I’m glad they pulled a goal back to make a game out of it, but if you noticed that was more of a shot/cross towards goal, in fact if Collins hits it I’m guessing he misses like all the other crosses in which someone got a touch on it.
Tottenham put on a clinic on playing with 10 men.
Bale was given too much space and I can’t believe the defenders gave him the option to cut back, he’s left footed make him go wide and use his so called amazing wide play and speed to see if he can cross or shoot from distance with his right, but don’t let him cut inside?
Wow if that went in for Lichaj would of shut up that Kward dude that’s been arguing with Ives on Twitter about Lichaj having a good game. That enough offense & Defense for you Kward? Contained Bale and store it, got fouled and still got the ball out well past midfield then almost scored the tying goal?
Lichaj with a chance in added time, hits the back of the net.
Well…just worked.
Goal Villa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lichaj with a good shot on goal, announcer says “That would have been a crowd-pleasing moment.”
They haven’t figured out that the cross from Albrighton cross from the right when everyone is just waiting for it just won’t work? Switch the field or overlap with your full backs to get something? At this point what do you lose?
There goes my fantasy cup run.
And it worked… 2-0 Tottenham. Crap
Looks like he was caught a tad upfield on that counter.
And Van der Vaart scores again. ugh.
Commentators claiming that Lichaj is a major reason that they’ve switched Bale and Lennon. (In a good way for Lichaj).
Spurs have inverted Bale and Lennon so that Bale can take on Warnock at RB. That’s badass
dive vdv dive
Ref just gave Lichaj a warning for dispossessing Van der Vaart-terrible call.
Is it me or is Bale just not being a factor at all?
Lichaj has done good but Bale is just out of it?
