Soccer Saturday: Your Running Commentary

BerbaBirmingham (ISIPhotos.com)

Revenge will be on the mind of some of England's top teams today in a loaded schedule of soccer around the world.

Manchester United dropped points in controversial fashion when the Red Devils visited Birmingham City last month, but Sir Alex Ferguson's side will look to take all three points at Old Trafford today. Meanwhile, Arsenal will look to defend home turf against the same Wigan side it dropped points to in December.

If you want to see some dominating teams in action, look no further than Germany, where first-place Borussia Dortmund is running wild in the Bundesliga. Barcelona is also in action today and will be looking to erase the memories of a disappointing mid-week Copa Del Rey loss.

If you are watching today's action, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.

  2. I was a little frustrated with the lack of YA’s playing today (quite a few going tomorrow), but they’re making it quite the little Saturday thus far. Also intrigued by this 20 year old, Tim Chandler, on the bench again for Nurnberg in the Bundesliga. Anyone got the goods on who this kid is?

  3. I think early Febuary.

I hope we avoid Cuba, Grenada, and Guadelope. Somtimes they can be surprisingly tough, but I hope we have a stiff group of competitions. Maybe Jamaica, Costa Rica, El Salvador.

  4. Torres with 9 league goals as of today. I believe leading scorer is Berbatov with 14. It’s certaintly possible with a reinvigorated Torres to score 15-20 goals by season’s end.

  5. The latter. Ya Konan is a decent striker out of the Norwegian league which is comparable to MLS. Hopefully they keep rising. I doubt they hold unto a CL spot, but surely they can get into the Europa League.

  6. Probably more the latter but with two differences. One, one of their forwards (Konan) is scoring regularly and two the quality of the defense (which I think has been good for a while since they don’t light up the scoresheet) is better with new additions.

  7. So, here’s a question. Hannover is doing so well this season. I don’t recognize any of their players other than Dolo . . . are there world-class players on the squad, or are they a mid-table team where everything’s just clicking right now?

  9. I believe there is some problems with his Visa still, I read on Ives tweet or something that Findley would have to come to the states one more time and finish finalizing some paperwork for the visa/work permit to go thru!
