Soccer Saturday: Your Running Commentary

Tim Howard and Everton will give it another go against Chelsea in the FA Cup after the two sides played two a 1-1 draw in their fourth-round matchup three weeks ago.

With a spot in the fifth round against Reading on the line, Howard will need to be at his best to shut down Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, where Didier Drobga is expected to rejoin the starting lineup after being benched in favor of the cup-tied Fernando Torres against Fulham.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Manchester United will look to avoid an FA Cup upset for the ages when non-league Crawley Town visits Old Trafford, and Mainz and Bayern Munich do battle in an important Bundesliga match.

Jozy Altidore's Bursaspor is also in action, facing Gaziantepspor (9 a.m., untelevised). Altidore got his first start with the club last week and is looking to find the back of the net in his second match since going out on loan from Villarreal.

If you will be watching any of Saturday's matches, please feel free to share any thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below. Enjoy the action (TV schedule is after the jump):

  1. Vshare is the best plug-in. I am always delighted when a stream is using it. So why doesn’t anybody ever share on here what website(s) they use for streaming games? The two that I have been using were seized by the US Dept of Homeland Security, but they both just created longer domain names and added “.tv”.

  2. Timothy Chandler plays right mid and right back. Only seen him play once (yesterday) but I’d rate him pretty highly; granted it was against an inept Frankfurt attack.

  3. Torres Torres, what’s the score?

Nice game from Timmy. Just makes it all the more better that it was Ashley Cole who missed Chelsea’s final penalty.

  4. Awesome bump by Johnny Heitinga, the equivalent of Scottie Pippen whispering “the Mailman doesn’t deliver on Sundays” to Karl Malone.

  5. They’ve been a mid table team the last few years. You have to exclude last year’s performance, after the suicide of Robert Enke, they definitely struggled. They pulled it through at the end and the momentum carried over. Plus Ya Konan has been on fire this year.

  6. Been watching Timmy since the second half. Everton looking quite lively. Had some chances but just didn’t have the quality in the final third.

  7. I’m with the scotsman above. Whether dowd was right to book ramires or not, howard put himself in a compromising spot.

That call could have easily gone against him.

Another great save from howard right there. Stopped lampard from point blank.

Nobody up watching howard this morning? Everton looking good, but chelsea (and jagielka) have forced timmy into several great saves.
