  1. Boring match. Timbers second XI looked flat at times, but overall not terrible for a second team. I’m trying to think of some bright spots for Portland… Marcellin, who looked very comfortable at mid and Pore. But Pore was quiet after the first goal. Despite the own goal, Horst had some nice clears… big physical guy who isn’t afraid to mix it up.

Criticism… I forgot that Johnson and Umony were on the field. Braun struggled at right back… poor first touches, indecisive with the ball. He has some work to do. If Gilbert doesn’t get in soon, the Timbers will be thin at right back. Brown did fine in goal, he wasn’t really tested too much… but I’m worried about his durability.

Vancouver? If that is their starting XI, it could be a long year for them.

  2. Joe Cannon had an absolute Jedi save against a screamer by Lopez at the end of the match. He was clearly using the force.
