The Chicago Fire's makeover continues.

The team agreed to deals with trialists Michael Videira and Orr Barouch on Thursday, adding two more names to the fold in a season full of acquisitions. The Fire now has 25 players on its senior roster.

Videira, a former standout at Duke University, was a second-round pick of the New England Revolution in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft. He tried his hand in the Scottish Premier League before returning to New England and ultimately joining the new-defunct AC St. Louis last season.

Barouch, a 19-year-old striker, is a former member of the UANL Tigres reserves. He impressed during the preseason, with the highlight being a four-goal performance in a friendly against the New York Red Bulls.

What do you think about the moves? Do you see either player, or both, being a big part of the upcoming season?

  1. Gaston, Chaves, Orr and Carr are our only true strikers. Carr seems to be on the outside looking in and could ultimately see more time on the wings with his speed. Gabe still stands a pretty solid chance

Im more concerned about losing davis paul. This kid has been impressive imo

  2. IMO Gabe has been impressive. I could see him getting one of the last 3-5 spots. He brings size, physicality, speed and technical ability. He played pretty solidly last night against DCU.

  3. I don’t have much of an opinion about either, but Barouch is intriguing. Last night after Ferrari drew a foul just outside the box, Barouch was the one to step up and take it. Pretty bold as a trialist, and he put it on frame, too (though right to the keeper). Could be a diamond in the rough. It’s not like I’m holding my breath, though.

  4. He played in the Carolina Challenge cup game last night v. DC United and drew a foul in a dangerous position late in the game. Not sure if he’ll stay on, now that they’ve signed Barouch.

  5. Diggin’ this. These two seem like quality guys who can help. Maybe the Fire will not be on the bottom of the standings this year.

We will see. Still a lot of 1-0 in the 2011 season.
