  1. Reminds me of how my son’s team lost a state club championship last year. Tied 3-3 after a goal by my son’s team, the opponents simply booted the kick-off directly (no initial pass) over the goalie’s head. That’s a legal goal.

  2. I played in a high school game where it was the opposing team’s senior night. One of the kids blew his ACL and didn’t get to play his senior season so we agreed that he could kick-off and then he would sub out.

He kicks off and another guy crushes it just like this goal so the injured guy who didn’t play all season was credited with an assist. You can imagine their celebrations as we were heavily favored. We tied 1-1. Classic

  4. You cant score a goal off a throw in. someone else has to touch it. if it did go in the goal off a throw in into the opposing goal it would be a Goal kick.

  5. Josh,

My best goal…off of a flip throw near the corner flag. It was thrown in to about the 16 meter mark and more towards the far post than the near. I had to adjust my run and leapt away from the throw and was able to snap the ball back to the upper 90 of the near post. NEVER in a million years could I pull that off again. I celebrated so hard that I pulled a hammy and was winded for the next 10 mins…LOL.

  6. Oh how many times I tried that in rec leagues when I was younger. The other goal I’ve always wanted to score is curling one in off a corner kick.

  7. Saw it on spox.com a couple of days ago. I wish there was a bit more information about this game. What league is this? When did this happen?

Goals like this happen all the time in amateur soccer. It is more impressive when it occurs on regulation size field.

  8. How is that wrong? You play for 90 minutes.

I guess in baseball the lead-off hitter shouldn’t swing at the first pitch. Or in the NFL opening kick returner should always call fair catches.
