Another edition of the Old Firm derby is set to take place in Scotland, as Celtic and Rangers do battle in a Scottish Cup fifth-round replay (2:45 p.m.) to see which Glasgow-based club advances to the quarterfinals.

The sides played to a 2-2 draw almost a month ago and have already faced each other a total of four times this season with today's game and a meeting in the League Cup final still on tap.

Among the day's other key matches, Arsenal hopes to put its Carling Cup disappointment in the rear-view mirror with a FA Cup fifth-round replay against Leyton Orient (2:45 p.m., FSC); Michael Bradley gets his first start in an Aston Villa uniform as Manchester City and Villa also fight for a spot in the FA Cup quarterfinals (2:45 p.m., Fox Soccer Plus/FoxSoccer.tv); Oguchi Onyewu and FC Twente meet FC Utrecht with a place in the Dutch Cup finals on the line (2:45 p.m.); and Barcelona meets Valencia (4 p.m. GOLTV) in the headliner of a near-full slate of La Liga action.

If you will be watching any of Wednesday's matches, either on television or via Internet feed, please feel free to share any thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments sections below. Enjoy the action.

  1. Final whistle for Celtic-Rangers and McCoist and Lennon (the two coaches) start going at each other. Super tense game and it spills over to the coaching staff.

  2. Based on this logic, the entire FIRST TEAM of Arsenal should have gotten the boot after the Newcastle match a few weeks back.

  3. Nothing nefarious. He was in a battle for a ball and after he fell down he got clattered in the back of the head by a Celtic player’s knee in the scramble. No foul called as no foul was committed.

  4. That wasn’t failing to track back. That was standing and watching someone rip a shot at your keeper from 18 yards out when you could have easily closed him down.

Yes, I’ve seen players cut for that. Had a kid cut from my academy squad for doing that exact same thing. Coach told him that if he didn’t care enough to move even 5 yards that he could walk away.

  5. Well I guess we can chalk this one up to a failed loan. Hopefully Borussia can avoid relegation without him cause he’s going back.

NOT, they don’t want him back either, my guess is Portland Timbers here comes Mikey….along with his dad, who will surely be fired this summer after what I think will be a shocking Copa Oro, I see a semi-final defeat, not even the finals, his dad taking the payout which is all that new contract was and Mikey getting a guaranteed contract to do nothing, which is all he does.

  6. Hahaha you’re a joke man. Get yourself cut from a team for failing to track your man? Multiple players would be cut every game if that were the case.

  7. The entire team looked out of place. Not hard to see that it was a mix and match squad. Bradley obviously didn’t play very well but I thought overall he had some good touches….Obviously, I would have liked to see him more active defensively – he seemed uncharacteristically hesitant to actually make any tackles and for a kid with as much experience as he has, chalking it up to “nerves” doesn’t make too much sense.

Not a good showing but not awful given the entire squad was outclassed today. Now, with that said, he’ll be luck if Houllier even lets him practice the rest of the week.

  8. Alright, now it’s just getting excessive. He wasn’t the worst player on the pitch, you’ve been just ripping into him this whole game. ‘didn’t look like he belonged in the 5th division’. Really? I agree, that he didn’t look good at all, but that is just ludicrous. He had a 13 minute cameo when they were down to 10 men and this game where Villa have been horrific as a side as his “two chances”.

  9. Well we all officially have another reason to hate City.

Two matches against them and two yanks likely to ride the pine because of those matches.

    Who wears baby blue anyway?

  10. Sounds like Michael Bradely had a bad game, therefore, the furture of the entire USMNT is now ruined.

This post is dripping with sarcasm.

  11. You’re going to get flamed for this, but I agree.

A lot of people will reply with “it was just one game.” But the reality is that this is the second time he’s been given a chance and he didn’t look like he belonged in the 5th division.

  12. Agreed.

He just watched him tee up the shot and barely moved at all. I am serious in saying that considering Houllier’s history, Bradley will never start for Villa again.

  14. Bradley was nonchalantly strolling back to Silva during that goal. He didn’t have a Eric Lichaj type game versus Man City, nonetheless it won’t be helping him log any big minutes in the foreseeable future.

  15. Silva was Bradley’s man. He just stopped tracking him and started walking as Silva ran into the box, and then he watched him tee up the shot while jogging at him.

Quit apologizing for that, it was horrid.

  16. I have only seen MB play this lethargic one other time. There is really no excuse for his performance, where is the heart and the passion? I hope he is sick or has an injury or something because I really can’t find any logical explanation for his play right now.

  17. You’re joking right, let’s not even talk about man marking on that one. Let’s talk about the failure for Dunn to even make an attempt to close down that shot.

  18. So, on another topic — what’s up with the waiver draft? Did it happen? Was anyone picked up? Not even a tweet about it anywhere….
