Major League Soccer's 16th season is set to kick off tonight in Seattle, where the Sounders host the Los Angeles Galaxy in matchup of Western Conference powers (9:30, ESPN/ESPN3.com).
That's not the only match of importance on the schedule, though.
Almost concurrently in Utah, Real Salt Lake will try to hold serve at home as it hosts C.D. Saprissa in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions League semifinal tie (10 p.m., Fox Soccer Channel). A strong result at Rio Tinto would put RSL on the cusp of reaching the tournament final, something no MLS team has done before.
