Herculez Gomez is at it again.
A year after Gomez led the Mexican Clausura in goals with 10 for Puebla, the American striker is putting together another strong run of form in the spring, scoring in his second consecutive match in Pachuca's 4-2 loss to Tigres Wednesday night.
Gomez, a second-half substitute, rounded the keeper and finished in stoppage time to chip away at Los Tuzos' deficit. He had scored two goals in his previous match after not scoring at all since September.
Highlights of his latest goal can be found here (skip to 1:57).
Here are a few more stories from around the soccer world:
TEVEZ OUT FOR FA CUP CLASH
The suspended Wayne Rooney won't be the only star striker missing this weekend's Manchester United-Manchester City FA Cup semifinal.
Carlos Tevez has been ruled out for up to a month with a hamstring injury, one that he suffered in City's loss to Liverpool earlier this week.
Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli are the leading candidates to start up top for Roberto Mancini's side on Saturday.
JAPAN BACK IN COPA AMERICA
After withdrawing from this summer's Copa America in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami that decimated the country last month, Japan has rejoined the tournament field.
The country's FA is notifying CONMEBOL of its decision, and Japan will assume its spot in the group with host Argentina, Bolivia and Colombia.
Spain had reportedly been offered Japan's spot in the tournament, but the Spanish federation turned down the invitation.
BLACKBURN'S NELSEN OUT FOR SEASON
Former D.C. United and current Blackburn defender Ryan Nelsen has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing knee surgery.
Phil Jones will slot into his position at centerback as Blackburn, just three teams and three points clear of the drop zone, looks to avoid relegation.

Herculez was not starting, nor playing forward. The old coach had him on the midfield. This new coach is giving him time in his best position and as such he has begun to score.
IT’S THE EARS. Otherwise, I don’t see it.
No, you thought wrong. Obviously the only worthwhile thing is a goal. /snark
Good for Herc, regardless of what his future role is for the Yanks. It takes a lot of mental toughness to hold on with as many turns as his athletic career has taken. I hope he goes into coaching when he gets done with playing (not that this should be anytime soon).
you are one man down, still able to find the net, coming on in the second half…..good work Gomez!! His confidence is coming back….
At least Gomez scores goals. Jozy has scored like one goal in 6 months.
Gomez isn’t a starter, he’s the guy you bring in for the final 15-25 minutes when you need a goal.
not sure if serious…
that was almost exactly how our rookie WIll bruin did it on sunday!

when I first read the headline “Gomez scores again” I thought this was about the Madrid-Tottenham game yesterday but I guess that would be spelled with an “s”
What a game between Tigres and Pachuca
So he didn’t pull that Slovenian defender him from out of the front of the box so that Bradley Jr. could score that equalizer?….That’s what I thought.
To be fair, Gomez isn’t even starting on his club team, and is coming on pretty late there.
I’ve been saying that for a year. I’m glad someone else sees the resemblance.
You shouldn’t be drinking this early.
Uhhh playing Bradley over Gomez? You do realize they don’t play the same position, right?
Hilarious. SI, SE PUEDE!!!!! I think El Presidente is a good nickname for Gomez, in addition to Kool Herc.
1+ for the Obama look alike
He still won’t get used or even called up. I’ve pretty much given up hope of us ever seeing the player in the best form playing. It simply will not happen. Jozy will still start ahead of someone like Gomez, and even if a substitution is made, it will be in the 85th minute and completely pointless.
Man does he look like Obama.
Naturally Bob Bradley chose to play Baby Bradley over him so we aren’t an elite team! TIME FOR A CHANGE!!!!1!
He was doing this right before the World Cup but it didn’t come of anything for us. Let’s see if this time Bob is able to utilize his off the bench scoring better by making subs faster. (excluding subbing in the first half or halftime)
Don’t think I’ll be watching the Manchester Derby. Two players I hate the most will make it too annoying: Balotelli and Nani.
definition of a streaky player
Pachuca (or whatever team he is playing for) should sponsor international tournaments in the Winter so that he will score in the fall too.
In all seriousness, always glad to see a Yank Abroad doing well, whether it boosts his national team stock or not.
We have another international tournament coming up. Of course it is time for Hercules to get hot.
Also, he is finding his group with his new team. Good for him.
Does anyone remember when Bob Bradley was gonna coach aston villa? lol
